I knew this place was full of some kind of magic. People acted like I was crazy.

Memory loss? And trees and plants everywhere. Magic always causes problems. We're all lucky it wasn't something much worse.

[Being a wizard, Sirius isn't really one for typing, either. Hence why he tries to avoid it at all costs, until he can find himself an owl or something.]

Perhaps in your world it's different. In my world, magic has done a lot of good, as long as it's not dark magic and used responsibly.

What does magic do where you come from?

[He looks dubious, as well as conflicted. Everyone keeps insisting that he's wrong, that magic isn't inherently evil, but he's never seen evidence to the contrary. He doesn't see how anyone could bring themselves to trust it.]

... hurts people. It's what demons use.

[Though plenty of humans use it, too, unfortunately.]

I've seen it open portals. Sometimes to send people away. Someplace horrible. Sometimes it lets things through.

People always get hurt.

There is a lot more to magic than that. There are healing spells, there are repairing spells. There is simple stuff like conjuring up flowers.

[Godfather senses tingling, he's now trying to help Connor with his issues.]

[He looks hesitant, and there's actually several moments of uncomfortable silence before he manages to answer.]

... is it safe?

[Sirius could be trying to trick him, after all. He's used to that. Most people lie.]

It can be dangerous. But I'd not show you anything like that.

If you want, I can be right next to you in a moment. I apparate.

[His eyes widen, slightly.]

Apparate? Like teleport?

Erm.

Never heard about teleporting before. What I do is go from one play to the other?

[Not one for empty promises, he is there in, well, a moment.]

[His sudden appearance actively startles Connor, and the boy quickly scrambles backwards, putting distance between them.]

How do you do that?!

Apparating. I have the license, don't worry!

[But he does realize that it's not a common thing, at least.]

It's a matter of Destination, Determination and Deliberation. If you want I can take you along some time?

[He eyes Sirius suspiciously.]

... where would you take me? Will it hurt?

Not far, just to let you see. It doesn't hurt, but it's not very comfortable either. Most vomit after their first time.

You know, on second thought, maybe we should start with something else.

[He nods slowly, liking the second suggestion better.]

... yeah. I want to stay here for now.

What else can you do?

All sorts of things, really. I'm pretty good at transfiguration.

[Sirius took out his wand and looked around until he saw a stone nearby. With a spell and a flick of his hand, he turned it into a chicken.]

[Connor watches intently, again looking startled when the chicken appears.]

That's amazing. I've never seen magic like that. Just demon portals and rituals.

You should try it some time! Not sure if you could actually do anything, though...

But this place works different than where I'm from, so who knows.

I wouldn't even know how to start. How did you learn?

The talent is inherent and I grew up in a wizarding family, so I saw a lot even before I got my own wand. And then I went to school.

Oh. Well... I probably can't do it, then. My parents aren't wizards. They're vampires.

Wizards come up in muggle families all the time. Vampires, huh?

Anyway, magic works in strange ways here at times.

[He turns the chicken back and arches his eyebrows at Connor.]

See? Not all magic is bad.

[He has to stare for just a moment, considering Sirius' extremely cavalier reaction.]

You're not afraid of me?

[He blinks a few times in rapid succession once the chicken has been turned back.]

Yeah... I guess that isn't so bad.

You don't seem like you'd want to hurt me.

[Seems kind of adorable, really.]
