I knew this place was full of some kind of magic. People acted like I was crazy.

Memory loss? And trees and plants everywhere. Magic always causes problems. We're all lucky it wasn't something much worse.

Too much of it. Demons, too.

What kind of demons?

All kinds. Vampires. Burrowers. Davric demons. Durslar beasts. Shapeshifters. Haxils. Thraxis.

Most people don't realize they're around. That's not that strange.

I think I'd notice something like that where I'm from.

You'd be surprised. Some of them are good at hiding. Some people are good at ignoring.

I'm a cop. I'd notice.

The cops where I'm from never did.

Well, none of them were me.

Do you have vampires where you're from? Said you knew them.

No. My partner's world has them.

Does their world have other kinds of evil, too? Monsters?

Yeah, more or less. [It's not really her place to go into details though.]

Might be. A lot of worlds here seem to have things in common.

I've only been to two worlds before this one. They had nothing in common. I never really thought that there were worlds that might have similarities.

So this other worlds thing is common where you're from too?

I don't know how common it is, but I spent most of my life in a hell dimension. Other people I know have been to other hell dimensions, too. Not really great vacation spots. It takes some pretty powerful demon magic to open a portal.

I wouldn't think any place called a hell dimension would be a great holiday location. You must be pretty happy to be here.

It's better here... but I'm not used to it. A lot of things are strange to me. I was in Los Angeles for awhile before coming here, I'd escaped the place where I grew up, but I still have a lot to learn.
