Merry Christmas everyone!
I'm Sirius, one of the two lovely wizards around here. Next month is the big opening of our magic shop, but today I speak on behalf of something, someone else.
See this lovely lady?
[He turns the device until it shows the moving photograph of Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, how she's smiling and waving rather untypically at the camera.]

She currently doesn't have a date for New Year's Eve! It's bad enough to spend Christmas alone or, well, in the company of a drunkenly depressed friend with an odd sense of humour, but how can a gorgeous woman like that be alone for New Year's?
It'd be a crime, I'm sure you agree. She is called Anita, she can probably kick your arse the way she'll kick mine if she catches me for this, she is, as you can see, absolutely gorgeous. Add wit and charm to that and anyone who's not snatched up yet should be going after her!
However, needless to say, there are some requirements. For one, she only wants males. I'm sorry, ladies, I've been trying to convince her! For another, obviously you should be good-looking and charming and witty yourself.
She might go for the bad boys, just a bit, but doesn't everyone?
Come on, blokes, tell me if you're interested and if you meet my approval, I might be able to help set something up.
[OOC: ...marauder is doing marauding things, I suppose. Needless to say, Anita doesn't know he's doing this. That's what makes it fun.]

[Action]
Hold on.
[She disappears into her room for a minute, then returns with her Browning Hi-Power and a small case of spare ammunition in hand. She gingerly sets both items down on the table in front of them, beside the computer, before taking her seat. Reaching for the Browning, she opens the chamber to show that it's empty. Nothing to fear here.]
Bullets -- those little projectiles in the case -- go in here. They might not look like much, but when you pull the trigger, they're propelled forward with gunpowder. The force behind them is so strong that they can go through just about anything. You can shoot someone to wound, but few people do. Most people aim for the chest. Any kind of damage to internal organs like that... it's usually fatal, or at least seriously damaging.
[She's obviously nervous as she lays the gun down, picking up the small case of ammo and opening it to show him its contents.]
Bullets don't look like much, but with that much force behind them, nothing short of a bulletproof vest is going to stop them.
[Action]
There is no magic to it.
[It's a statement, but he still looks at her for confirmation.]
With magic, the only way to kill is to use dark magic. And using dark magic even just once opens anyone up to its influence. If you use this gun to protect yourself or others, then it isn't inherently dark. There is no magic to it.
[He pulls away from the gun and runs his fingers through Anita's hair instead.]
And even if the killing itself doesn't bother you, your conscience still shows. I'm glad you're getting a break from this life here. If killing bothered you as little as you say, you'd not look so worried now.
[Action]
Nope. No magic involved.
[She stiffens slightly as he runs his fingers through her hair, but relaxes a moment later. He hasn't run away from her. That's a good sign.]
I was worried of what you would think of me. ... killing is part of what I do. My skillset is pretty specific, but I'm very good at staying alive -- and keeping people I care about alive, too. I'll do whatever it takes to make that happen.
[Action]
I'd know.
[He takes her hand again to give it a reassuring squeeze.]
I'm glad you stayed alive. And that you still have a conscience.
[Action]
Where I'm from, it's pretty much considered to be the worst thing you can possibly do to another human being. I've seen worse, too, though. The monsters... they'll often do worse. I don't believe in torture. If I have to kill someone, it's going to be quick and clean as I can make it.
[Action]
[He trails off, looking past her at nothing as he remembers some things, before finally shaking his head.]
Seems like you're doing the better thing. And now you get your clean slate.
[Action]
Hey. Don't think like that.
[Action]
[He takes a deep breath and shakes his head.]
So, New Year's! Don't be mad at me.
[Action]
It's hard to be mad when I know you just mean well. What will you be doing that night while I'm out on the town with my dream guy?
[Action]
Make sure your date behaves.
[Action]
[She smirks slightly.]
Planning to play chaperon?
[Action]
[Not as if he's jealous or anything.]
You are free to do as you want. He' not.
[Action]
[Action]
[Action]
Then maybe you shouldn't be so worried about me going with Loki.
[Action]
[Not so subtly leaning back.]
He could be dangerous.
[Action]
If he pulls anything, I'll shoot him.
Besides. There are a few things I'd like to talk to him about, seems like as good a time as any.
[Action]
Or maybe that's just me.
[Action]
[Sometimes even without her threatening them!]
[Action]
More than I do.
[Action]
If I had a book about myself available, I would hand it to you.
... well, maybe not. I'm not sure you would approve of the sort of men I hang out with back home.
[Action]
The werewolf sounds alright.
Did you mention anyone else?
[Action]
Of course, not to mention all of the other vamps and werewolves that come attached to the two head honchos.
[Action]
Yeah, no wonder you're glad for a break.
[Action]
[She shakes her head slightly.]
But you know what? I wouldn't be alive today without him. I'd have gotten killed a long time ago. I owe Edward a lot. But that doesn't mean I won't pull the trigger if he ever decides killing me is better than being my friend.
Let me tell you, though. It's way better to be his friend than his enemy, and there is no in-between.
