Merry Christmas everyone!
I'm Sirius, one of the two lovely wizards around here. Next month is the big opening of our magic shop, but today I speak on behalf of something, someone else.
See this lovely lady?
[He turns the device until it shows the moving photograph of Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, how she's smiling and waving rather untypically at the camera.]

She currently doesn't have a date for New Year's Eve! It's bad enough to spend Christmas alone or, well, in the company of a drunkenly depressed friend with an odd sense of humour, but how can a gorgeous woman like that be alone for New Year's?
It'd be a crime, I'm sure you agree. She is called Anita, she can probably kick your arse the way she'll kick mine if she catches me for this, she is, as you can see, absolutely gorgeous. Add wit and charm to that and anyone who's not snatched up yet should be going after her!
However, needless to say, there are some requirements. For one, she only wants males. I'm sorry, ladies, I've been trying to convince her! For another, obviously you should be good-looking and charming and witty yourself.
She might go for the bad boys, just a bit, but doesn't everyone?
Come on, blokes, tell me if you're interested and if you meet my approval, I might be able to help set something up.
[OOC: ...marauder is doing marauding things, I suppose. Needless to say, Anita doesn't know he's doing this. That's what makes it fun.]

And chocolate biscotti.
Thanks so ever, love.
[Picking up Sirius speech, yup.]
I'll be there in a bit.
Wait. What's your address?
[Action]
He's hiding as a pet rat?!
[He got spoilers again. ...so very sorry.]
[Action]
Afraid so.
[Action]
[Since there's nothing he can do anyway, he finally holds out the coffee for Anita and takes a deep breath.]
Sorry. Coffee or hitting first?
[Action]
[She accepts the coffee gratefully after standing up to meet him, giving him a sympathetic look before gently punching him in the right shoulder. Some of her ire has definitely cooled.]
I think I'll save the other one for later. Make yourself at home?
[Action]
Hit me when I least expect it? Very evil, I like it.
[Sitting down on the closest chair and nibbling on one of those chocolate things himself now.]
So, any of them of interest?
[Action]
[She can't help grinning as she also takes the biscotti, eagerly taking a bite off the end before sitting down in the chair beside him, her computer open on the coffee table in front of them.
All right, Sirius, so you're a pretty useful friend.]
As a serious date? Not really. At the moment, I actually think Loki is the frontrunner.
[Action]
[Useful and pretty, precisely.]
Loki?
[He isn't so sure about his ability to beat him up.]
Why?
[Action]
[She grinned, taking a sip of her coffee and reveling in the warmth of it, along with the taste of sugar and cream. Just what she needed to relax after an admittedly tense couple of days.
She raises an eyebrow at his questioning. Well, he wanted to approve her dates. Only fair that she share her reasoning.]
Because Koizumi is a bit on the young side for me, even if I'm not planning for anything to happen that night. Loki is an acquaintance, possibly even a friend, and I know he'll at least provide me with intelligent conversation for the evening. I also know that he won't lay a hand on me because he thinks mortals have some kind of cooties, I'm pretty sure, so that's a bonus.
[She pauses, taking another sip.]
And in the very unlikely event that the night actually does take a romantic turn, I already know that he's an excellent kisser. Not too hard on the eyes, either.
[Yes. She thinks he's attractive. Deal with it.]
[Action]
[He didn't like Loki all that much before, either, just because of some people he reminded him off, but now he finds himself liking him even less.
Probably just because he's thinking about him more.]
Don't think he looks all that good.
[Action]
[Sound logic, Anita.]
Maybe not conventionally. He's got a little something about him, though.
[Sidelong glance while she drinks her coffee. Is that the green-eyed monster rising up behind you, Sirius?]
[Action]
[He is not jealous. He'd just rather she would be with someone who doesn't remind her of family members and/or Slytherins. But he's not sure how to say that without sounding jealous, so he just eats his biscotti and licks his fingers.]
So how far would you go on this first and only date?
[Action]
He washes his hair. Having been up close and personal with him, I give his general hygiene A's all around, actually.
[Because really, that was some seriously intense kissing, and while she and Loki have both agreed not to spread it around, she can't help sliding it into the conversation. Maybe she wants him to be a little jealous, though she wouldn't admit it openly.]
Considering I'm not looking to actually start a romance with someone I don't have chemistry with, not very far.
[It's only been a handful of days since you shot her down, Sirius. The idea of dating someone else? It just doesn't appeal to her yet.]
Dinner, at least. He'll be expected to keep his hands to himself for the duration of the evening.
Although, if he played his cards right...
[Yeah, right.
She's still a prude.]
[Action]
[So there. Alright, wait, maybe he should give some reasons.]
His magic seems pretty dark.
[Action]
I raise the dead, and you don't have a problem with that.
Besides, you don't have to like him. I won't actually be dating him. This is a one-time thing. You're the one who wants me to have a date so badly.
[Action]
And you described raising the dead to me, it doesn't sound evil.
[Action]
But that felt cruel. It would ruin things. They were doing so well at being friends. Why spoil it?]
The power is inherently evil, depending on who you ask. My grandmother steered me towards the Christian faith to help combat it. It swallows a lot of people up whole. I'm not evil, but it's a power that's rooted in darkness. I'm just responsible with it.
[She withholds a sigh, taking another pause for coffee.]
Koizumi's too young. Prussia is a country, it's weird. Bro drinks too much, and you know I don't approve of that. You're my exception. I don't have to worry about Loki making any unwanted moves because there will be nothing romantic about it at all.
[Action]
[Sirius meant himself, too, with bad taste. He doesn't think he's good enough for her, not for a long shot.]
I don't normally drink all that much. You're just catching me at a lot of bad times.
[He grins and shakes his head.]
Maybe we have a similar approach to dating after all.
[Action]
I was raised Catholic and got ex-communicated for a power I never asked for. Nothing is perfect. But having faith means that holy items will actually protect me against vampires, which is important to me. Doesn't mean I have to subscribe to the man-made parts of religion. I'd rather not. I don't like the idea of burning anyone at the stake.
[She hesitates slightly, glancing at him almost nervously when he mentions watching.]
... you can watch me. Just don't hate me afterwards, all right? It's not something I chose. It chose me. I don't have any option but to use it, so I use it responsibly and respectfully.
[Another moment with her coffee. She's more annoyed about this dating thing than she'd like to let on, but somehow, she thinks he doesn't get it. He doesn't seem to understand why this whole debacle bothers her in the first place. He really does mean well.]
Maybe we do. Here's the thing with me. Not just about Loki, but about you, too, about everyone. Every body gets a clean slate in my books when I meet them. Unless they're some kind of serial killer, I'm a big believer in second chances. Because I know what it's like to have screwed up. And it hurts when someone won't give you a chance to bounce back. So everyone gets a chance to start over. Be better.
But if they fuck that up, then they're out of luck.
[She grins, just a little.]
And you might not like him, but Loki has helped me out some since I've gotten here. His second chance is going pretty well. If he messes it up, I'm not afraid of him. I can take care of him.
[Action]
[He pauses as he thinks about religion, faith. Not something he knows about much and he almost asks, but it seems like a sensitive topic to her. Maybe he should talk with Remus first, he knew such things.]
You're right. S'pose I just worry about you, love. Don't get me wrong! I know you're strong. Just look how many people told me I'm dead over this. But trusting the wrong people can be the worst.
[Action]
[She frowns, slightly, then sets her coffee aside, reaching over to gingerly take one of his hands between hers.]
Whatever happens, I'll be fine. The sad thing is, especially in this case, I trust a lot of people to be dishonest. If you're expecting it, they can't surprise you, you know? There aren't a lot of people I really trust. Not to get my back when things get tough.
But I trust you like that.
[Action]
[Really he's just talking about Peter. Himself. It's hard to forgive some things and he's never really been the forgiving kind. Not even to himself. Maybe especially not. He stares off at nothing, until she takes his hand and he looks over at her, listening and finally smiling at her words.]
Not sure if trusting me is a good idea. But I trust you, too.
