I want a dog.
Is that too much to as for? It's all I ever wanted.
I had one before, very briefly. His name was Bones. I got him when I ran away and ended up getting this nice little setup in Flagstaff. For the first time ever I was completely free to do whatever I wanted. It only lasted for two weeks though.

Seriously though. I really want a dog.

I'm at the precinct for another hour, but I'd be glad to go with you as soon as I'm finished. You make a good point. Why put it off? Nothing stopping us. I'm pretty sure the landlords won't care about pets here. They don't care about much else, that's for sure.

I should finish my shift here too. They wouldn't like it if I walked off the job even if it is to save some wayward pup from a life inside a cage.

[Once work is through, Anita makes her way to the shelter, prepared to wait outside if she happens to beat Sam there. It's been a rough day, to say the least. Between then and now, conversations that she'd rather not have had have taken place, and nothing sounds like a better pick-me-up up than... spontaneously adopting a dog?

Hopefully Rose won't mind.]

<sub>[Sam didn't clear this with his roommate. In fact, sometime between their conversation and coming here, said roommate told him their place isn't big enough for a dog. Oops.

[She smiles as she pushes away from the wall she had been leaning against, inclining her head towards the door.]

I'll be honest with you -- actually, I guess I have no choice, all things considered -- but while this isn't the craziest thing I've ever done, I think it ranks in the top ten. That's saying something, considering what I do for a living.

I think this might be for me too. Then again, by now anything that would be considered "normal" has inherently become the opposite.

I'm really excited though.

[She grins, following the sound of about four dozen dogs barking towards the shelter's holding area.]
