All right, everybody listen up! Due to the flood of reports concerning a large, tawny, predatory cat running loose in and around town, the police force is initiating a hunt. This is going to be undertaken systematically and professionally, and we're requesting the public's assistance.

First: We need everyone to stay indoors as much as possible. Large predators are very dangerous and can be very unpredictable. Do not approach it, and do not run. If you have to go out, stick together in groups and don't dawdle. Cats have very good night vision, so don't assume that going out at night is the answer.

Second: If you see the creature, call emergency services or our hotline: 1-800-244-2287 or 1-800-BIG-CATS. Be quick, clear, and precise. What did you see, where did you see it, what was it doing, where are you now.

The police department, with the assistance of the New Moore Avengers, will be organizing a city-wide search using a variety of techniques and equipment ranging from canine units to infrared cameras during the evening hours - which makes it even more imperative for pets and people to be kept indoors. We'll be attempting to capture the cat, find out where it came from, and get it to a place where it won't cause problems for the city.

That is none of your concern, and neither is Aisling. Leave her be. She will not harm anyone else.

It is, actually, when it's my job to see that murders are addressed. I don't know who you are or what you want with the girl, but I need clarification on some things. I'm not going to leave off asking for her simply because an anonymous account demands that I don't. That's not how this job works.

We have ways to control her should the need arise for it.

She is no longer a threat to the people of this island. If you have any pressing questions, direct them here and we will answer them for her.

Unless you're her lawyer and can provide legal credentials to that effect, I really don't think I will.

Still not seeing any reason to believe you're any kind of authority I need to pay heed to. Come out from behind your filter and explain, and you're more likely to get some sort of cooperation.

Then that would defeat the purpose of the filter.

We hold something of hers that if used, will control her to the point of obedience or capture. She will not harm anyone again.

If you fear the police so much, convince me why I should listen to you at all.

I'm not at liberty to discuss the case with just anyone - I'd need her permission for that anyway, which I'd need in person or in writing. I need to clarify some things with her.

Verbal permission will do, but it's for her protection. I'm not going to sacrifice that, no matter what you think of me.

I have no evidence of that. All I have is a smokescreen full of mirrors. The last time someone hid behind a mask and made demands of me, he tried to take over my city. I want the truth.

And whatever you've left out could be crucial to this investigation. The department has cautiously opened its doors to the vigilante community. If you've been in this town long - which I suspect you have - you know that. If you want to discuss this, I need her permission. That's not negotiable. If you're keeping crime off my streets, fine. If you're hampering us trying to figure out what happened, what triggered it, and how to stop it from happening again, you and I need to have a much more personal chat.

Knowing that you're open to vigilante work, you must also be aware that not all of them want themselves known to you, just in case things turn sour and you decide to hunt them. We don't want our operations impeded or stopped. But we want to help.

Concerning Aisling, what had set her off was the loss of someone she held dear to her. During the attack which you yourself had mentioned earlier, someone whom she loves had succumbed to death. Filled with the rage of the Wild, she attacked innocent people. This is an act which in private she has repented for in her own ways. Since then, the island has taken someone else she loved, and she remained docile.

Believe us when we say that she is no longer a concern.

I'm well aware that not everyone wishes their face to be known. We don't require them to take off the mask, but we do require at least enough cooperation to come forward themselves and let us know their skill sets, how to contact them, and what we should be calling them. It's preferable, in such cases, to have someone vouch for the unknown. Think someone will vouch for you?

I really don't know what kind of help you think you're offering. I have no evidence that you're telling the truth on any of this, and even if you are, what happens if something goes wrong, as it inevitably will, and whatever special thing you have to stop her is out of reach? If you're unavailable for some reason, and this happens again, who'll stop her?

Contrary to popular belief, I don't want to hurt her.

As long as we draw breath, it won't be out of reach. I know that you can't believe what we say, but clearly, there's nothing else that can be done to earn your trust.

You want to confine her. That's just as bad.

You're still making assumptions. There might be ways to convince me, but you're not open to them. I don't want to confine her. Not unless it's necessary. The citizens must be protected, and I won't compromise on public safety - hers included.

She's fine where she is. We've got the best chance of communicating with her. You ask here or not at all. Final offer.

For the moment, yes, she is fine where she is. As I keep saying, I just want to talk with her, whether that means meeting her on her home ground or a neutral location is up to her. She has no blood relatives on this island. So you are not her family. And if her age is what they say it is, I'm not sure it would matter if you were. Unless you're her lawyer, you don't get to make legal decisions on her behalf.

I need to know some details about the situation, the particulars of what we might be up against if it happens again, whether or not she was self-aware, motives behind her targets, whether or not she can be reasoned with in that state. There are others as well, but that's enough to make the point. You're not her. You can't answer everything I need to ask, and you're not legally allowed to.
