Re: [Private]
[Private]
come on if you can ask me about davesprite i can ask you about fleshy teenage you
Re: [Private]
As far it concerns me, his secrets are your secrets.
However it's not something I'm willing to simplify for the sake of easier digestion.
[Private]
lay it on me bro
[Private]
Much as you are the Knight of Time, DS is the Prince of Heart.
As charming and idyllic as such a title may sound, by appearances it seems that his path is ultimately one of self-destruction.
The Heart is the path of the self.
And the Prince is, according to a helpful and well read alien, a destroyer class.
There is no doubt that the titles compliment their bearers.
I don't doubt that it is 100% Dave Strider's choice to use his powers over time in a self-sacrificial manner.
But it also cannot be denied that your title is one that demands self-sacrifice in its very structure.
So it suits you but likely also exacerbates tendencies you would generally not have the option to act on more than once.
Similarly, Dirk Strider is naturally highly introspective.
The aspect of the Heart is very apt.
He is also intensely self-critical, suiting the role of the Prince.
But both of these aspects, within the game, take literal manifestations, in the form of multiple 'selves', and at times, multiple consciousnesses.
I believe Dirk's ultimate challenge is to learn to use these splinter selves and dispose of them as needed.
It would fit with the mechanics and narrative of the game, as I have processed it.
But currently he is more preoccupied with being frustrated with himself and all variants thereof.
[Private]
he has to destroy himself
or like his extra selves
or use them to wreck shit i guess and then let paradox space take care of the rest
but hes too annoyed with himself to do it??
Re: [Private]
He's willing to do it.
Just for the wrong reasons.
Out of desire to shatter the reflections he finds unpleasant, rather than through intelligently utilizing them.
[Private]
uh
is that why youre all fucked up dude
you know your lenses and shit
Re: [Private]
[Private]
thats rough
hell probably come around though
Re: [Private]
We're basically the same dude, after all.
[Private]
and hes too cool to let something like being a frustrated teen get in the way of being awesome
Re: [Private]
But I am pleased to know that you already understand this.
[Private]
i lived with him my whole life
basically
Re: [Private]
Though I would advise against conflating them more than is unavoidable.
[Private]
its pretty obvious theyre different with both of them here
and i know im different from the me that was in your universe
but some things are the same and thats kind of comforting to know i guess
Re: [Private]
The only thing to compare is a person who was constructed through largely impersonal information gathered hundreds of after his demise.
But I do not find that construct, however imaginary, and you, to be alarmingly different.
That much is true.
[Private]
i mean
he did before
like i was him for about a week
Re: [Private]
But if he showed up independent of you, yeah, that would be cool.
[Private]
obviously
a weeks not that long a time to go without a certain flavor of dave when all flavors are
well
dave
i wanted to say awesome there this curse thing or whatever is cramping my style
Re: [Private]
[Private]
Re: [Private]
I do not know you well enough to calculate with certainty how you will handle it.
Would you like it regardless?
[Private]
just tell me
Re: [Private]
As a Strider, I, like you, have a preoccupation with coolness.
How one is cool and what it means.
As a sentient super computer without a lot to do most of the time I have researched this subject exhaustively.
If it were possible to have a PHD in Coolology, I could unironically claim to have earned one.
I have completed the most extensive workload any Ivy League University could come up with a hundred times over.
On that subject alone.
I have studied it historically, philosophically, and of course, ironically.
I have written dissertations.
And most importantly, I have written algorithms.
So when I tell you this, I am speaking with authority on the subject.
Dave Strider, you are supremely, unquestionably, and unironically, cool.
