So! Out of curiosity, what is the major bad stuff that happens around here? Are there any culprits? Is there a good vs evil line I should know about? I mean, what goes bump in the night around here and should I know about it?

Occasionally stuff happens and people act strange, but it's always pretty obvious when it's something weird going on on the island, so we try not to hold that stuff against them. Other than that it seems to be mostly your run-of-the-mill criminals.

We haven't yet, but give it time. I'm sure something will happen that will turn have the city's population into demons or something.

Well, this is about at literal bump in the night as it can get, although there's only one way to tell if you should know about it.

Every day, between midnight and a second past midnight, time stops. Quite literally. The moon turns green, pools of blood abound, electricity stops working, and most people somehow transform into coffins, where they are safe from and complete unaware of the events that transpire. Shadows - the literal manifestations of the darkness in peoples' hearts, as near as I understand it - roam the town and the forest, attacking those unfortunate enough to be awake and venture out into the night.

Occasionally, people are somehow kidnapped into this time - by persons or forces unknown - and we have to go rescue them before their darker halves destroy them. [He says all of this cheerfully and matter-of-factly, as if talking about the weather.]

The only way to know if you are aware of the time is to stay up past midnight and see if you experience it. However, if you find you are, please do not go outside, as the shadows are extremely dangerous, and cannot be brought down by conventional means.
