video; how not to make an entrance
[ and here we have (1) count 'em one tiny tiny viking clutching like his life depended on it and standing in front of the hospital looking more or less in a state of shock.
Just mumbling to himself. Yeah, the turning-it-on part was an obvious accident ]
Wow. This is totally an okay situation.
Hand me a thing and send me off. I'm fine by the way. I'm not freaking out or anything. Thanks for the mental health consideration. Your pep talk was absolutely no help at all but I appreciate your effort which was not really an effort at all. I can contact a network. Odin help whoever thought this one up. What's a network? Gee, I don't know. You know who's fictional? You're fictional. You freaky white-wearing freak. [ something makes a sound and he jumps a little ]
That's it. I've died. It's not even Valhalla because the world is way too hot heat-wise and things are probably on fire. I'm melting. Lucky me. Fire and brimstone for you, Hiccup. It's okay we upgraded the afterlife to have odorless fire and brimstone for maximum comfort while you suffer a hysterical breakdown. Have fun with your metal abominations. We'll miss you in Berk.
I feel so honored to have this experience.

There's exceptions to the rule sometimes.
...Is the island near anything or is it in the general area of nowhere?
Re: [ action]
Okay, if you say so.
As far as I know it's in the middle of no where. According to the doctor's, we're here to slowly get used to being 'real' and when they feel we're ready, they're 'release' us. I don't believe that to be the case.
How about we head some place to get you something to eat, or somewhere to rest?
[ action]
Or at least I used to before about ten minutes ago when I woke up here and started thinking that maybe I was suffering a serious head injury to go along with the limb loss but I still have a vague-ish idea this is real. ...Ish.
[ hesitant pause then a small nod ] Okay.
[ action]
[She'll start to lead him back to her apartment, she can provide lunch and a space to rest until he's less overwhelmed.]
What you're experiencing, it's natural. I was wondering what was real and what wasn't, but everything about me is still intact.
[ action]
[ Deep breath. Carefully follows after her with uneven footing, looking around the entire time with wide-eyes. What's this what's this- ]
That's a relief. I like being intact. How long have you been here?
[ action]
I've been here for about..two months I believe. Some have been here for a year I think, so there's a lot of different perspectives about this place.
Where are you from?
[ action]
[ He'd be keeping up if he didn't keep getting distracted by the--- ooooo it lights up how does it work??? ]
Huh? Uh. Berk. It's a viking inhabited mountainous island twelve days north of hopeless and a few degrees south of freezing to death full of snow and general awfulness and dragons.
[ action]
[Blinks, he's taken a back by the lights? Ohh...wait till he learns of printed text or movies.]
Vikings and dragons? Sounds like it would be amazing place to see.
[ action]
[ stops and stands on his toes to try and touch it for a second (hiccup stop that's too high) before doing a little jog to make sure he's next to her ]
I guess it would be if you've never seen it before. The dragon part's pretty amazing.
Re: [ action]
Dragons are a rare thing. Fought against one that was...similar but not the exact thing. Oh! Before I forget, your device. A note of sorts should've been sent to you, telling you where you live.
The wonders of technology.
[ action]
There's an over abundance of them where I'm from. [ pauses, curious if her fighting the dragon ended in her killing it. He takes the phone back out and looks at it ]
Technology seems pretty neat... [ bites lip fiddling with it to figure out how to get the note. note?? ---not note. this note?? no. this?? BEEEPING. those a ringtones oh no. tries to stop the noises. only increases the volume. SIDE-EYES Aqua. clears throat. ] So uh. It's a note on this?
[ action]
I hope you're able to exist peacefully. The beast I fought, while it was similar like a dragon, it wasn't one. It was...a different beast in itself, causing more harm and threatening innocent lives.
[Let's him try and figure it out on his own. When he looks at her, she smiles a little, moving to stand next to him.] Yes, you're going through the settings on the device and exploring other things. You're close to it but... [Shows him how to do it, coming across the e-mail that says where he's rooming.]
There we go.
[ action]
[ Raises his eyebrows at how easily she made that look and it really is pretty easy now that she pointed it out. Okay. He can get the hang of this. No problem. ]
Thanks. So.. I'm South 305. Good to know.
[ action]
Mmhmm, and you get some money once a month from the government. If you want more money you'll have to find a job here.
[ action]
Is it enough to do things with? ...Are jobs easy to get? Do you have a job?
Re: [ action]
You'll need a job if you want to have extra money to do more. I work at a bookstore and people are normally hiring.
[ action]
...You actually have a store for books? Like. People read? This is good news.
[ action]
Mmhmm! There's a lot of books and there are deliveries every few days. [Though where or how the deliveries get there is anyone's guess.]
[ action]
[ "Deliveries from where??" he'd ask but he's almost positive she wouldn't know. ] Are they useful books?
