His eyes widened in recognition and quiet surprise as she looked back at him, and something clicked in his mind. "Sarah?!" He'd known her presence felt familiar, but that prickling feeling had stopped him from recognizing her immediately. "But how... since when are you a cat?!"
no subject
She had one paw placed behind her when he recognized her. Shit! Well...better to come out about it now.
"Since I found out I can become one," she told him, voice dry and sarcastic. It was interesting to hear her voice coming out from a cat.
"How did you...why do you reek of wolf?"
no subject
He pulled back his sleeve in response to her question, showing her his arm - it was covered in vicious bites and scratches. "Werewolf," he explained quietly. "Are you all right?"
no subject
"Who...were you ambushed?" her instincts were telling her to ignore him, to abandon him and hiss at him to go away. She had to focus on their friendship, not what her vampire side was telling her. The second question made her pull away from him, further into the shadows where her form shifted and changed back into her human self.
Well..human looking self.
"Let's just say I'd rather not go through this process again."
no subject
His eyes were knowing, seeing and mirroring the pain she way trying to hide. The tone of his voice grew stronger - a hint that the disappointment in his voice was not directed at her, but was instead on her behalf. "I'm so sorry you went through that, Sarah." He smiles at her sadly, expression open and helpless. "If you'd stayed a cat, I could have hugged you."
no subject
The apology caught her off guard. It had the opposite effect of consoling her. She wanted to lash out or tell him to not utter a single breath about it. Just as her anger was coming to the surface, he shocked her again.
"Why?" she asked, tilting her head to the side as she crossed her arms.
"What would you do next after that? Adopt me?"

A huge part of her wanted to close the gap between them and hug him. Her vampire instincts instantly hissed at that. Every fiber of her being was screaming no, so instead she changed forms again back into a cat.
"...you have your shot..." to pick her up and hold her if he really wanted to.
no subject
Then he set her down gently again, and took a step away to help her with the instinctual aversion to his closeness which he knew, even without asking, that she felt too.
no subject
Hopefully in a few days, things would change back to how they were.
She licked his cheek with her tongue before he set her down. Just like him, she took a few steps back before changing forms.
"...thank you."
no subject
He glanced back the way he'd came. "...I'd probably better go." So as to stop aggravating her instincts. "I need to be far away from town by the time the moon comes up." Also true, though he didn't really need to leave nearly this early.
