[Some people might be glad to find out that they're no longer fictional. Some might maturely go about the sudden news with dignity and caution. Others might dive into the opportunity to learn about the "real world" as much as they can, quickly coming to terms with their new lives. Surely, a few have taken the most rational routes possible or even found humor in their new whereabouts.

Alisha is in none of those categories.]

Someone needs to tell me wot the fuck is going on right now.

[Does she believe anything the hospital staff told her? No. Not in the least. Actually, she's of the opinion that some storm-empowered jerk is running around, using his power to change everything up, some way, somehow. At any rate, there has to be someone in this God-forsaken place that knows what's truly going on; without any way of knowing where to even begin looking for a person, she turns to mass video.]

At the very least, please tell me someone else out there doesn't believe all that hospital doctor bullshit.

Nope. Nothing against people who drink. That's fine with me. I just don't like to be caught unawares. If I'm going to cut loose, I like to be in full control of exactly how loose and when.

I usually have a lot of people trying to kill me. Having my judgement impaired isn't really a good idea.

You can control how much your drink. It's not like you have to get completely smashed or anything.

...Uh, are they still trying to kill you now? [Because if not, giiiiiirl you need to live a little and party.]

It's just not for me. I never acquired the taste for it.

[And from her brief experiences with it, she's a lightweight and even one drink goes a long, long way. Part of being freaking tiny.]

Well, not right this second, they're not. But, if I know me, I'll have enemies here in no time. I'm always ass-deep in alligators.

[Now might be a bad time to mention that Alisha is technically considered an unlawful miscreant, with what... her probation, court-mandated curfew, and sentence to community service.]

[She raises an eyebrow.]

Yes. I work with the New Moore Police Department. You're looking at the resident monster expert.

[They even let her have a real badge here, unlike the cops at home, who just gave her a little plastic ID card.]

[Well... fuck. One of the first people Alisha's talked to and it's a cop. She... really doesn't have a good track record with cops.

Monsters? You mean like those things kids think are under the bed and in the closet?

Yep, in just about every possible variety. Vampires, werewolves, wererats, zombies and the people who pull their strings. There was a lamia involved once, too.

[Nope, nope, nope, Alisha wishes to stay of the assumption that everyone who thinks they're some fictional being is just mentally unstable.]

[The look Anita gives her is completely flat. No nonsense here, nope.]

[With that tone of voice, she may as well have simply stated 'the sky is blue' or 'the earth is round.']

[Give her a minute or so to let this stew; she needs to make sense of it.

Alright, let's see... there's no way she believes vampires are real. Or monsters and whatever else Anita mentioned. Perhaps... the storm hit more places that she had thought, causing people to obtain monster-like qualities. If they wanted to believe they were vampires or the like, who would anyone be to tell them otherwise if they looked and acted the part?

[She smirks, wryly. She knows Alisha doesn't quite believe her, but that doesn't seem to phase her in the least.]

I would love it if they stole from the bloodbank instead of turning people into vampire junkies or just straight-up murdering them. Since the new laws went into place, there's a lot less of the "drain them until they die" mentality, but still enough that the cops still need to call on me as the legal Vamp Executioner for the tri-state area with some regularity.

[That's... a lot more intense than Alisha had expected her comment to be. Besides it showing some of the extremes of New Moore, it's pretty unnerving to hear that info in such a straightforward and honest manner.

Okay, so the people who think they're vampires are super psycho. Great.]

This place just keeps getting better and better.

The vampire population here isn't as thick as what I'm used to. There are a few -- at least one that I've met so far, and I have my suspicions about some others. Back in St. Louis, though, you couldn't turn a corner without running into something with fangs or fur. Usually fangs. The lycanthropes are good at keeping themselves under the radar, if you're not me.

...Wot the fuck is a lyncanthrope? Because it seriously sounds like some sort of STD.

A lycanthrope is a shapeshifter. Lycanthropy is caused by an infection, you get it through being bitten or scratched by another lycanthrope. Anything that draws blood. There's werewolves, wererats, wereleopards... those are the most common, but there are other, rarer breeds. Weretigers, weresnakes, werehyenas. Those last ones are really nasty.

Most lycanthropes aren't that way by choice, but a lot of them adopt a pretty dangerous and barbaric lifestyle. I don't like discriminating against shapeshifters, but there are some who need to have a close eye kept on them.

[Alisha listens closely despite her reservations, actually hanging on every word, though perhaps not for the reason she should.]

You're actually really serious about all of this, aren't you?

[For a while there, she had assumed it was just some tall tale or at the very least, some sort of long, drawn-out, and very dry joke.]

[She shrugs, turning one hand up.]

Not even the world's best pathological liar could be as serious as I am right now.

Well... fuck.

[Alisha's not sure what else to say, much less what she should say. Heck, she's not even sure what to make of Anita at the moment, her initial impression quickly crumbling.]

I'm not trying to convince you. Just telling you what's always been fact for me. I'm pretty damn involved with all of that stuff, or I was before I came here. Not always by choice, but there it is. My life is being ass-deep in monsters. There's nothing I could do to convince myself they aren't real, at this point.
