text;

Those other doctors certainly picked a very festive time to take me out of my "fictional reality", as they put it. Luckily, I didn't have any plans to disturb. I got a 'Merry Christmas' right before my I'd imagine standard 'Hello, you're fictional' speech yesterday.

Help a poor new arrival out, will you?
On a scale of one to ten: How upset should I be that I'm here? It's so hard to make a clear judgement a place when it's decorated for the holidays.

That depends. How much did you like home?

Let's call it a five and we'll adjust the scale accordingly as we learn more about you.

If your life was shitty before getting here, it might be a good thing. Otherwise, hope you've got a cure for homesickness.

When people mention being "fictional" it flags them as a new arrival. You are a "new arrival," aren't you?

Well, how do you feel about surprise kissing?
pelagically: (and you will see)

That depends, how well do you take to being trapped?

You're a doctor.
You should be used to experiments.

Imagine you're a rat in a maze, and calibrate your scale from there.

Take it from someone who's been here a while and has been in many other places: there are far, far worse places you can be stuck.

Captain Jack Harkness.

Did they happen to give you a name with such a lovely stare?

As we are held here against out will it is not eh most pleasant place to stay.

I have yet to be bored, so there is that at least.

Not to sound like I'm drinking the kool-aid or whatever, but this place gives people a lot of chances they wouldn't normally have where they're from? I mean, it messes with them a lot too, but I dunno, sometimes it seems fair.

I've probably been here like way too long.

That speech is a bit of a shock, isn't it? It isn't as helpful as they'd like to think. But welcome! I know a lot of people tend to be very upset when they arrive - it's nice to see someone who isn't immediately set against it from the start. It's really quite a beautiful place, filled with all sorts of lovely and fascinating people from all kinds of places I've never even heard of! But it's hard to leave everything you know behind. Especially when it's impossible to know if you'll ever get back. Everyone's scale is a little different.
