Okay, so this is great and all (I mean at first I thought I'd had some bad pot and this was some kind of trip, but it's been three hours and nothing is melting) but where the hell is everyone?
Dad? Nora? I will seriously even take Mr. Friendly Zombie right now. I don't recognize anyone here.
Also, an important question. Where can I get a gun? I'm feeling all kinds of naked without one.

You learned to play chess? Wooooow. [Julie laughs.] Maybe you can play with me. I'm not very good, though.
action
Me..either... [ Not that that's surprising, he thinks. It's a work in progress. His weak point is that sometimes he mixes the pieces up. The horse goes in an L though. We got that one down. She's probably good at it. ]
action
At least he's right about exactly what she meant when she said 'drink'. Coffee would have been acceptable, but alcohol is much better. Who says you don't know how to take a girl on a good date, R?]
I told Nora all about you.
action
Is this a date? Oh my god. He's staring at their hands again. This is actually going really well right now. Don't mess up. Here let him push this door open for her. ]
You did? [ Nora's reaction must have been along the lines of "You're insane." ]
action
[She ducks her head and tucks her hair behind her ear with her free hand, moving through the door with a quiet 'thanks'. Nora's reaction had been something along the lines of 'you're insane', at least at first (once she actually believed her), but unlike her father, Nora actually listened.
She'd listened, and understood, and sighed and put her chin in her hands and made fun of Julie for her 'zombie boyfriend'.
Julie hadn't ever expected to see him again.]
She wanted to know where I'd been. How I'd survived. She saw you take me, remember?
action
[ The girl hiding under a table that was never pointed out to the others despite some hunger still looming around the group while they left. She could've been dead too.
But she wasn't, so that's good. Julie had a friend to talk to. Someone that could make a string of complete sentences and properly convey human emotion on a face that's not pale as all hell.
Did she lose that good friend being here? That's a sad thought. Probably would've been better to get stuck on the safe island with Nora than stuck on the safe island with him. No super close friends you've known for god knows how long here.
Damn, now he's thinking about his friend. M would've wanted a drink. Okay. Don't get depressing. This was going so well. He makes a awkward jerky motion with his free hand to indicate she should sit down somewhere. ]
action
[Though she doesn't seem to mind. She looks around the bar and appears to deem it acceptable before she heads to a seat, her fingers still tangled up with his.
Nora isn't here, and she's sad about that - Nora's had a hard life too, she might have liked it here.]
That's okay. [She likes that he listens. It makes him easy to talk to.]
action
He looks at their hands then takes a seat next to the one she headed to and sat himself down without letting go. He's starting to think his hand got stuck holding it -- not that he's going to be the first one to let go. Sorry if the rigor mortis is a thing. It comes and goes. He had a loose enough grip that she could slip out of it though, right? Yeah.
Okay. We got to where the drinks are. How do you order a drink? Let's just stare at Julie. She knows this one. ]
action
Yeah, she knows how this works.]
Hey! Can I get a beer?
[If people are looking, she doesn't care.]
You want one?
action
-Huh? Does he want one? He shrugs. ]
action
Are you getting a drink or not?
action
Stop looking at her eyes and answer the question before someone catches on. ]
Okay. [ If only because he'd probably look really out of place sitting here watching her drink something if he doesn't at least have a cup to hold. Plus it'd be rude not to. Order a drink: support your fellow undead! ]
action
Oh my Godddddd. [Her shoulders drop back and she grins over at R.] I think I'm gonna like it here.
Re: action
action
You know, you look nice when you smile. [Then she's abruptly looking away again, tilting the bottle up to take another sip, another swallow.] ... I keep thinking I'm going to wake up.
action
You're not going to wake up. It's real. He might not be the best person to ask about what's real and what's not but it feels realer than a lot of things. ]
action
Shrugging again.
She presses her lips together, savouring the taste of the beer, then sets the bottle down and pinches the soft part of her hand hard enough to draw up livid red crescents against the skin with her nails.]
I guess not.
action
[ Pinching yourself to see if you're dreaming. Does that really prove anything? Can you feel pain in a dream? He wouldn't know. He's only done it the once and hasn't since he got here. ...Not that he feels pain to begin with really. Can you test dream pain if you can't feel a pinch to begin with?
He has to remember to try it if it ever comes up again. ]
action
[Julie was always taught that you can't feel pain in dreams, and the spot where she pinched herself is still tingling. She's quiet for a little while, soaking in the ambiance of the place and enjoying the company, then a question occurs to her and she turns her attention to R, resting her head against her hand.
The other, still tangled up with his, doesn't appear to be moving any time soon.]
Where did you go..? Afterwards? [After I left you.]
action
--What'd she ask? He puts his attention back on her and then tilts the bottle back into an upright position before it goes pouring all over him. ]
Oh. [ After she left. He frowns. ] Went to go...back.. but cold... rain so had to ...wait. [ He almost forgot about the rain making him feel like he was freezing to a second death after his heart felt like it was stomped on. That sucked. ] Then here.
action
As much as she'd known it was the right thing to do, she wishes it could have been different. She'd even left him a note, and pictures trying to explain why she left, not knowing if he'd understand either.
She squeezes his hand again, her voice softening.]
Cold? You felt cold?
action
He gets it. He understands. He squeezes her hand back very lightly then pauses. Oh yeah. Cold. That's actually weird to feel. Didn't give much thought about it at the time. ]
Yeah. Really cold.
action
How?
action
I ...don't know?
action
[Julie smiles, though she looks distracted, rocking back slightly in her seat.]
My dad would never believe it. Never in a million years.
