Okay, so this is great and all (I mean at first I thought I'd had some bad pot and this was some kind of trip, but it's been three hours and nothing is melting) but where the hell is everyone?
Dad? Nora? I will seriously even take Mr. Friendly Zombie right now. I don't recognize anyone here.
Also, an important question. Where can I get a gun? I'm feeling all kinds of naked without one.

hefrgggg [--the loud sound of a phone being dropped and a wheezy gasp followed by: ]
Shit.
[ Fuck. He broke it. What kind of idiot can't use a phone? Way to go, R. ]
audio
So you do know how to make words? A-plus for your first try.
audio
Ju.. lie. [ Hi. ]
audio
[Yeah, there's no mistaking that voice, and her tone changes completely.]
R?
audio
Well, she did say she'd even take Mr.Friendly zombie so... ]
Where-? [ He'll come find you. Then you got someone recognizable, right? She probably doesn't know where she is. Hospital-ish area? Already going that way. ]
audio
[Um.]
Is it.. safe for you? You know.. being out?
audio
Mmhm. Nice... here. Safe. [ There's been a couple of close encounters but most people either think he's just some sickly dude, leave him alone, or oddly don't mind in the slightest. He thinks it's mostly because Lin's got the police force ordered keep an eye on him that nobody's actually opened fire on him yet. Yeah. That's probably it. ]
audio
[There's a touch of relief in her tone and the faint sound of her footsteps as she paces restlessly back and forth in front of the hospital.]
audio
[ Very good. It's almost normal, Julie. You'd like it. They've got people doing people things and working electricity and food that wasn't sitting in an airport for god knows how long that you can eat...
Give him a couple of minutes. He's almost got a (kinda-not-really) run going. Almost. ]
audio --> action
It's enough to make her heart sink a little, but since she doesn't know exactly where she is, maybe it's better.
Dad would blow his top if he suddenly woke up in a hospital bed being told he wasn't real.
She's bouncing in place, rocking from her heels to the balls of her feet when she finally spots him (kinda-not-really) running, and she lifts one hand up in a (kinda-not-really) wave.]
action
Okay. Play it cool. He closes the rest of the distance slowly and raises his arm in a (kinda-not-really) wave back. ]
Hey. [ So far so good. He stares at her feet then looks up to her face searching her for any injuries for a second. Healthy safe Julie: Check. ]
action
She stills that restless rocking back-and-forth motion as he approaches, a half-smile pulling at one corner of her mouth as she lets out a little not-quite laugh and lifts her shoulders up.
Shrug.]
Hey.
[But she's looking him up and down, too. Checking him over. He doesn't look hurt. He actually looks better than the last time she saw him.
Julie steps forwards through the remaining space between them both and, after a small hesitation, puts her arms around him and tucks her chin against his shoulder.]
... I actually really missed you, R.
action
M'sorry.
[ For, you know. Eating your boyfriend and everything. But he'll keep her safe. He goes still at the hug then carefully eases into it, awkwardly raising his arms up and hugging her back as well as he can manage. Tight warm hug. Julie Julie Julie. She's comforting and she smells nice in a not-dinner kind of way and everything's going to be okay now. ]
Me too. [ So much. ]
action
[She curls her fingers into the back of his clothes and shuts her eyes, smiling again where he can't see her. Forgiving him for killing Perry had been the easy part. He hadn't been able to help it.. but he's different now, and she knows that.]
I'm sorry, R, for leaving you behind.. but they would have killed you. You know that, right?
action
I know.
[ That she even bothered to begin with meant the world. She didn't have to apologize to a dead guy. He can't blame her. ]
action
You look good. [A+ conversation, Julie.] I mean, well, you know. [As good as a corpse can look?] Erm.. how are you.. y'no.. [She pulls a face and lowers her voice.] .. eating.
action
Thanks...? [ He furrows his brows and pulls his shoulders up in a shrug ] M'...not. Exactly. [ We've kind of being starving ourselves here in between spaced out hospital donations- a cold already donated organ (yuck but it works he guesses). He's been mentally debating eating a cop that's very rude for the past week. And there was that recent incident where he got curious and hungry enough to eat a cat but let's not even bring that one up ]
action
[Come to think of it, she couldn't remember seeing him eat anyone after he brought her back to the airport. Maybe he had, and just hadn't told her, but she's almost sure of it. He was never gone for long enough.]
Are you.. okay? I mean.. I thought you needed.. [Maybe she's a little concerned.]
action
Hmm. Hungry be...fore but. [ Another shrug. He feels great right now, actually. ] I'm fine.
action
[She hugs him again and though it's brief it's warmer this time, tight and close as she pushes her nose against his neck and chuckles. All of this is so, so very hard to believe, but the presence of someone familiar is grounding, and she's not as close to freaking out as she was before she found he was here.]
So, what does a girl have to do to get a guy to buy her a drink in this town?
action
Ask. [ He's reaching out and taking one of her hands and lightly giving it a tug and leading her along. This way. Julie needs a drink. He knows where to go for one of those. ]
action
Is anyone else here? My dad?
action
No.
[ He definitely would've known if Mister Grigio was somewhere about. That's the kind of guy that would announce his presence. Probably involve himself in the policing force. Established himself as an authority figure to everyone. Would've shot the only zombie on this entire island in the head by now... He's not here and that might be a good thing.
Julie's friend isn't here either. He's kept an eye out but no luck. ]
action
[She has much the same thoughts as R does. Her father would be very quick about establishing himself in a place like this, and he wouldn't have allowed someone like R to live.
As they walk, she lets go of his arm to lightly swing their clasped hands.]
... I'm glad you're here, you know?
action
His gray eyes follow their swinging hands with a little amusement. He's seen the zombie kids do that before. The others think it's weird. He thinks it's fun. It seems so carefree. He almost thinks there should be a 'la la la' to go along with it. Or skipping. He'd probably fall on his face if they even tried to do that one though. ]
Glad you're here. [ Look at all the life here, Julie. She needed this. ]
