Not because she's distracted. She actually keeps reading what he's said over and over and feeling an emotion she can't quite place, but it's sort of giving her a headache and making her throat hurt. Which is weird. She gets emotional, sure -- but not ... like this. If she gets emotional it usually means she's just getting angry! Or straight up vicious or whatever the fuck.
If -- if -- sadness and gratitude were things she were to feel, she would normally not express them. She would normally straight up fucking lie and brush it off.
Vriska doesn't know what she's feeling. It's been an extremely long time since anyone aside from Tavros -- the Tavros from her point on the timeline, and he's effectively gone now -- even tried to put up with her. Even before her death she spent easily sweeps being accustomed to being the proverbial black sheep. Karkat, of all people, to be saying those things -- when he used to like nothing more than bitching her out and telling her to fuck off -- really, really surprises her.
And she has to press the heels of her palms to her eyes to stop whatever this feeling is because it is sort of threatening to overwhelm her and she doesn't want it to.
