New Moore 103rd Homecoming Ball

Who: Everyone.
What: The fancy anniversary/homecoming ball.
When: Saturday evening, November 9th.
Where: Four Saison's Ballroom.

[ You made it to the ball. Presumably, you will have an awesome time and/or be completely miserable.

Through the doors is a giant dancefloor, with a small orchestra on stage. They're playing beautiful music and later in the evening they'll be replaced with a DJ who will then pump up some sick beats. You can be like hot damn that's my jam.

This ball is full of fancy decorations, fine dining, dancing of all sorts, alcohol??, tears, everyone trying to look their best, and Dinkerton wearing a golden crown and high-fiving a crowned Coulson. The tables are circling the dance floor if you're going to sit down the entire time or you need to eat that food. ]

[In the time Koizumi is gone it's allowed Aqua to reflect and think. Maybe she was truly worrying over nothing. If she was, it would be easy to read on her face. Still, she couldn't help but continue to reflect on how the night was going. Occasionally she got up to get something to drink. Her eyes scanned the crowd to look for Koizumi, making sure he was alright.

By the time her date went looking for her, she was back at her table, still reflecting. When she feels someone's fingers brush against her shoulder she nearly stiffens. Her magic raising up to her aid when she turns her head to see its Koizumi. Did he have any idea how close he was to recreating a certain night?

She pushed the thought aside, watching him as he picked up her hand to kiss it. He was for the dramatics, wasn't he? She lets out a light chuckle, holding his hand while she gets up to her feet.]

I was hoping you'd ask. Though I'm surprised you came back this quickly. I thought you had more people to see and talk to.

[He leads her by the hand back onto the dance floor, still gesturing and speaking in an overdramatic and formal way, as if he were on stage performing Shakespeare.] So did I, milady, but alas, 'twas all for naught - I was drawn irrevocably back to you, by the pow'r and the call of your beauty.

[Then he ruins the moment, his suitably mournful expression changing as he grins at her, speaking in a more normal manner.] Really, though, it would be rude of me to ignore you for too long. And I certainly don't have to see everyone at once - the night is yet young.

[The more over dramatic he speaks, the more laughs and chuckles it gets out of Aqua. The words are comforting, funny but at the same time eerie.] I'm not sure if it's my beauty that called to you, but my power? Perhaps.

[The moment ends with them on the dance floor and her placing her hand on his shoulder.] It would've been fine with me if you wanted to talk to your friends more. [The music starts, but she doesn't know what style he was going to go with]

Well, there's still time - and I don't know about you, but I certainly won't be able to dance forever. [He places his other hand at her waist, the song begins, and he proceeds to teach her how to tango. It's harder than the other dances, but he somehow manages to lead while taking the women's part, at least at first, to give her a better chance at learning it so quickly.

However, it quickly becomes obvious that he doesn't know it as well as he thought he did, or as well as the other dances - by the end of the song, they're tripping over each other's feet and just laughing, nearly helplessly, clinging to each other to remain standing.

Eventually they picked themselves up, but by then the beginning of the next song was starting - a slow, meandering piece, with the vocalist crooning about love. He doesn't say anything as he looks at her, but simply moves both his hands to her waist, smiling gently.]

I doubt either of us could. [Dance forever that is. For how they were dancing now, it was fine. Though perhaps Koizumi should've brushed up on the tango before trying to teach her. The beats and counts are different, along with how the foot work should be. It's not long they're both tripping over one another, with Aqua nearly stepping on him. All the while they were laughing and enjoying themselves.

She nearly tripped over her own heel, clinging to Koizumi to keep herself from falling over. Thank goodness they give up on learning and opted for laughing, giggling and having fun.

The lyrics of the music don't filter into her mind. She's clinging to Koizumi, trying to catch her breath and placed her head on his shoulder.]

How can we be able to trip so many times and not fall down?

Ah, I really couldn't say. My apologies, I did think I knew this dance better. I suppose it's been a while since I practiced. [Koizumi starts swaying, slowly and comfortably, to the music. It's been a good while since he's laughed that loud and that genuinely, having fun without acting, or worrying about the fate of the world. Dancing here, with Aqua in his arms, is.... nice. Uncomplicated.

He closes his eyes, still swaying, a pure and happy smile on his face.]

I would say it's been some time...but still much fun. [Aqua sways with him, relaxing into his hold. Her eyelids flutter close as she listens to the lure of the music and breathing in his scent.

It's nice to be here with him. Even nicer to smile, laugh and feel like her old self. How she used to be before the Mark of Mastery Exams.]

I'm really enjoying this, Itsuki.

[The words are murmured as she turns her face to the other side to have her nose brush against his neck.

It hasn't registered in her mind she's called him by name and not surname.]

[He opens his eyes again, looking down at her happily. He did notice the change of address, but it felt natural to him, felt right.] I'm glad. I'm really enjoying this too, Aqua.

[He stands there swaying, just breathing her in. It's so nice to hear her laugh like that. Before this, he's really only seen her when she's her most down, in need of comfort. He's glad he was able to be there for her then - but seeing her smile brightly and so freely is a gift in itself, one he doesn't take for granted.]

[She lets out a soft giggle, letting her warmth breath tickle his skin. She slowly lifts her head and opens her eyes to look him. There's a soft, tender look in her eyes while a sweet smile dances on her lips.]

Thank you for tonight.

[He returns her smile with one that is nothing short of beatific, warm and gentle, his eyes sparkling.] It was my pleasure, Aqua. Really.

[His arms tighten around her, almost imperceptibly, and he suddenly realizes their faces are mere inches apart. Time seems to slow as he looks into her impossibly blue eyes, and he lets out a suddenly shaky breath.

Emotions he doesn't recognize seethe and rise up beneath the surface, and his lips part slightly, as if in a question, though no sound comes out. His mind is having trouble keeping up with what was happening, even as he begins to tilt his head a little and lean in, slowly bringing their lips closer together.]

[Why is it she feels so comfortable, warm and safe in his arms? Was it because of the sort, sweet music playing in the background? Or did it have to more with the lighting? Nice and romantic, something straight out of a book.

Looking up at Koizumi with her eyes locked on his, everyone around them disappears. There's nothing here except him, her and the dance floor. And that...it doesn't scare her. There's no reason to panic or worry about what will or could happen next.

Excitement and hope flutter in her heart as she leans in, the gap between them becoming smaller and smaller until their lips are a hair's breath away.]

[They've stopped swaying, simply holding onto each other. His brain catches up to the present a moment before their lips meet. He doesn't really know why this is happening - he's only known her a short while, and his love life is complicated enough as it is - but he realizes that he doesn't care. She makes him happy - her presence brings him a simple, pure joy. And, if her expression is anything to go by - hope in her eyes and the yearning on her face - he makes her happy too.

She wants this. He does too.

He has only an instant to choose, but an instant is all he needs. The decision is made. He leans in completely, pressing his lips against hers, warmly and gently, in a soft yet certain kiss.]

[This is normally the part where she wakes up, where logic comes into play and tells her to stop. She knows where this is heading, but the Keyblade Master does nothing to stop it.

The distance between them is smaller until it's gone. Her eyes flutter shut upon feeling his soft lips against hers. It brings back memories of their vampire selves, but the kiss isn't possessive and dominating. It's sweet, precious and full of potential. Aqua doesn't know how long they've been kissing until she's the first one to pull back.

Not too far, but far enough to break the kiss and still close enough to start another. It's true, they don't know each other that well, but her mind can't seem to get over the fact they've kissed. She seems speechless, confused, but still happy even with her heart pounding in her chest.]

[The kiss is long and soft and sweet, her lips cool against his. Though he's kissed people before - many people, given the island's propensity for temporarily suppressing free will... this is entirely new to him. There's a heat in his cheeks, a pounding in his chest, and a fluttering in his stomach as he shivers pleasantly - his eyes closed - in unfiltered reaction to this new and unexpected feeling.

Eventually she pulls back, and his eyes open slowly. His cheeks are flushed red, as he looks at her silently, an elated and flustered and slightly silly smile on his face.]

[There's a warm feeling on her cheeks and looking at Koizumi, she's sure they're possibly the same shade. Even with the distance between them, her hands are still on his shoulders and her heart is still pounding against her chest.

Oh...Gods, what did she do? Not that she regrets it, but..honestly, what did she do?]

Ahhh...[Aqua averts her gaze to the floor, tilting her head down to have her bangs cover her face and the blush on her cheeks.]

I'm not...sure what came over me a-and I didn't mean to invade your..personal space?

[...oh, dear. Perhaps he misunderstood while they were dancing. Now she's probably embarrassed and uncomfortable, but doesn't know how to retreat without making a scene or hurting his feelings. He loosens his hands around her waist, so it would be easy for her to pull away if she wants to.

He fights the sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, ignoring his instinctive and probably unjustified disappointment in favor of focusing on her feelings.] No, it... there's no need to apologize, Aqua-san. I'm the one who kissed you. I'm sorry, I thought... [He trails off, unsure quite how to finish the sentence. What had he thought? That she had wanted him to kiss her? Whatever it was, it isn't seeming to make much sense to him now.]

[No! He didn't misunderstand anything. Aqua was just..confused and unsure of how to actually talk after being kissed. She had never been kissed while she was in the right frame of mind. The last time they kissed was under a different set of circumstances. Now, they were in control of their actions.

She noticed his lighter grip around her waist. She didn't know what to say to him either. Raising her head up to look at him she can read the disappoint in his eyes and hear it in his tone.

There's a shake of her head.]

N-no I...[a beat.] wanted you to... [Kiss her that is, but that part is hard to say out loud without stuttering.]

[She had wanted him to... something. The ambiguity is troublesome, as he was already confused enough. Now he's sure has no idea what's going on.

Despite his obvious confusion, he endeavors to remain gentlemanly and pleasant.] Ah, shall we... find a place to sit down? [The next song was beginning, and though he had already taught her the foxtrot, he had a feeling this wasn't quite the time for another dance. That being the case, moving from the middle of the dance floor would not be a bad idea.

He drops his hands from her waist, gesturing to a hallway leading away from the celebration. He had no idea if this conversation was going to be good or bad, but either way, he rather thought it would be easier to have it in a place that was not quite so public.]

[Why was it this hard to get her feelings or her desires across? She never had trouble voicing her own ideas and opinions before. But now it felt like her voice was gone, vocal chords crushed in her throat and left as dust to leave her mouth dry. Or...was she reading too much into this?

Was she seeing only what she wanted to see?

A soft sigh fell from her lips as she nodded her head. She pulls away, moving away from him to leave the dance floor to speak with him in the hallway. The conversation could be good, could be bad or it could leave both of them. She could faintly hear her heels clicking against the ground as they left the loud music to a quieter area.

Once they were in the hallway she leaned against the wall. Her own embarrassment was making her start to second guess herself. What was she thinking?]

I didn't mean to embarrass you out there. I didn't think it would happen or, think you'd want to or that I'd want you to...I'm so sorry again. [When in doubt, you ramble and hope the string of words made some sense.]

[He follows her quietly away from the crowd, confused and with a sense of foreboding - his emotions veering wildly between elation and despair, though he doesn't show it.

The she starts talking, and... it doesn't clear anything up. He answers slowly, trying to work out just what is happening between them.] You didn't embarrass me, Aqua-san. You did nothing to apologize for. But I...

Ah, I suppose I'm just confused. Did you want me to kiss you?

[Aqua had thought her words had conveyed what she wanted to say, but they were all jumbled up and out of order. She fell silent then, biting the inside of her cheek as she listened to him.

Her eyes go wide ever so slightly. Did...he just ask her that? The blush on her face becomes darker. She parted her lips to say something, but no sound came. A lump had formed in her throat. Say it. Say it now before you regret it later. Swallowing the lump down she tried again.]

Yes. I..I wanted you to kiss me.

[Even with all his practice, he couldn't completely suppress his sigh of relief. He could swear she must be able to hear his heart pounding in his chest. He hadn't kissed her against her will.

But then... why had she pulled away and apologized?] And... do you regret it now?

No! [The words come out quickly, not allowing her mind to catch up with what just left her mouth. The blush deepened, forcing herself to look down again.]

I didn't know if you wanted to...or if you considered me in such a way.

Honestly? I don't know what I'm doing.

I... Well, I suppose I didn't realize I did. [He shakes his head, amused once more at his own ignorance with these things.] Not until that moment, anyway.

[He looks at her quizzically.] But then - if that was what you wanted, and you don't regret that it happened, what's the matter? Why did you pull away, and apologize?

Because I didn't know if that's what you wanted, or if I stepped over any boundaries or...offended you? [Really, no one ever taught her what to do in the event of someone kissing her.

This is the first time she's been kissed (without being affected by the island).]

I told you...I don't know what I'm doing.
