New Moore 103rd Homecoming Ball
Who: Everyone.
What: The fancy anniversary/homecoming ball.
When: Saturday evening, November 9th.
Where: Four Saison's Ballroom.

[ You made it to the ball. Presumably, you will have an awesome time and/or be completely miserable.
Through the doors is a giant dancefloor, with a small orchestra on stage. They're playing beautiful music and later in the evening they'll be replaced with a DJ who will then pump up some sick beats. You can be like hot damn that's my jam.
This ball is full of fancy decorations, fine dining, dancing of all sorts, alcohol??, tears, everyone trying to look their best, and Dinkerton wearing a golden crown and high-fiving a crowned Coulson. The tables are circling the dance floor if you're going to sit down the entire time or you need to eat that food. ]

MILES MORALES

He's a little out of breath from hurrying back to the dance, and his clothes are disheveled in a suspicious way: tie loosened, shirt partially untucked, hair in disarray...
But Jason isn't paying attention to how he looks. He's somewhat unnerved from his conversation with Coulson earlier, and now he's planning on getting shitfaced and dealing with it tomorrow. The only thing that can ruin his plan is if someone pukes on him, because vomit ruins all plans.]

JASON TODD
Once outside he loosens his tie because the damn thing has been strangling him all night, and then he checks for the trolley which - he checks his phone - should be coming around now. He hears the bell announcing its arrival. Bingo.
After that it doesn't take long to find himself at the high school. The security here isn't exactly state-of-the-art so it only takes him a few minutes to get inside, and it would have taken him even less time if he'd been willing to muss up his suit, but it's a rental and he's got to bring it back to the shop in the morning.
He makes his way to where he'd found the shop class when he'd scouted the place a few days earlier - the only day Jason had actually attended school - and unlocks the door with the same ease as the others. He makes sure it closes silently behind him before turning to survey the various power tools and construction equipment. Fucking jackpot. He gives himself a moment to enjoy the feeling of success that the first part of his plan has gone off without a hitch.
Then he gets to work. The next phase of construction on
the jasoncavehis apartment requires some heavy soddering but damn that band saw is a sexy piece of machinery.]no subject
No, just kidding. Coulson needed to go back to the school right after getting the crown to play musical cars because Dinkerton and himself both hitched a ride there with another teacher and that guy wants to call it a night early. So hop in the car with this loser, get his own car, drive back to the hotel, and continue the party was the plan Coulson had.
And catching someone breaking in was a happy accident. But Jason doesn't need to know that. Coulson's just going to make it look like he was on to the guy the entire time. There is no way he's not taking the opportunity to put this James Bond tux to good use. Sue him.
dun da da da na da da ba dun da da da ba da da da DUUUUN NAAAAA DA DA DA...
After waiting for Jason to get his sigh of relief of having successfully broken in, Coulson went around and took a second entrance into the room, being as silent as multiple training in being silent would allow, and took a seat on an empty table. Then cleared his throat. ]
Can you even carry that?

BRO STRIDER
harassingdancing with Carol and making himself scarce at odd occasions (sorry, were you looking at him? He's not there anymore), Bro is being his usual elusive self, as tends to be the case in large social situations. But maybe, if you're quick, you can catch him when he's suspiciously eyeing the punch or picking at a bit of food he swiped when he started to feel peckish. Every now and then he can be spotted running one finger distractedly around the inside of the collar of the snappy suit he's been persuaded into.
That collar just can't be tamed.]

JAMES POTTER
Pureblood get-togethers were all well and good, but he'd never really... fit in with that crowd, and even less so after he got married.
He's managed to acquire a glass of something that he thinks he could get drunk off just by sniffing it and is standing by one of the tables, resting back against it. He'd decided a tux wasn't really his thing, but is dressed smartly nonetheless.]

JASON TODD & GWEN STACY (ULT)
And it's almost like he planned it to match her outfit -- a simple enough black dress, with studs on the bodice, paired with her favorite leather jacket and her own pair of worn out combat boots. While it's been great hanging out with Peter and Miles and Gwen at the dance, she's also thinking it might be nice to know more about her date.
As Miles's roommate, he'll be around a lot, she reasons. Best to make sure Miles is in safe hands, she tells herself.
Lies. He's just really cute, and the first guy she's been interested in since Peter Parker died, and goddamnit if she's at a fucking high school dance, she's going to have fun tonight.
She turns to her date. "This dance is pretty lame, isn't it? We oughta walk outside, get away from all of" -- god there's really no words for this hellhole she's in -- "this."
omg he really is the anti-peter parker
When she turns to him to suggest their escape he gives her a small smile and raises an eyebrow. He's got some time to kill before heading over to the high school, and she seems pretty interesting from the little time he's spent talking to her. Plus she's smoking hot, and Jason isn't blind.
"Sure, I'm down. Is it okay to leave the kid on his own?" He's surveying the room, picking out Miles relatively easily but seeing no sign of Kate.

JULIE GRIGIO
But she's not shy of dancing.
Early in the night she can be found mostly enjoying the orchestral music, but later, when the DJ comes out, she'll be out on the dancefloor with anyone who cares to take a turn on it.]
Alisha Bailey
Or receive her fair share of stares. And knock a certain wizard's dapper socks off. Mostly the latter two, as there are a distinct lack of probation workers or mentals with powers. So she hopes.
While she'll be on Sirius' arm the majority of the night, she is thoughtful enough to pry herself away from him so that others may partake in the grandeur that is a suited-up Sirius... or rather, she's off to chat and/or have a dance or two with the few other people she considers friends. Feel free to stop her along the way, or if you fall into the friend category, have at her chattiness and inability to ballroom dance.]
no subject
He has told her such, of course, and shown that the words aren't just empty by appreciating her with hands and mouth as much as propriety and her make-up will permit. And that's just on the way here.]
May I have this dance?

ENGLAND
There's something in the composition currently playing that he recognises, but every time he starts to hum along he misses a note.
Just for a change, nothing seems to be bothering him in the slightest. At the moment, anyway.]
Rapunzel
Complete care and attention to detail have been put both into her intricate, heavily braided, and flower-adorned hair, which she had spend the better part of the entire day doing; with 70+ feet of hair to be styled, it's no wonder that her morning and afternoon were taken up by working on it. That doesn't even include the lace and satin ballgown she had made and embroidered by hand over the past couple of weeks (based on an illustration she found; thank you, library books).
However, some things never change, and it's probably for the best her dress reaches the ground and them some-- she's still barefoot, and while she knows it probably isn't protocol, she figures it would be much more comfortable to spend the night dancing without the worry of shoe blisters. Luckily, unless someone catches her dress spinning up, those tootsies should stay nice and hidden.
Like so many other events on New Moore, this is also a first for her, in more ways than one; first technical date (even if it is as friends), first time to a fancy anything, first time to a dance, specifically a ball... which also means her first time partner dancing. While she's naturally graceful and light on her feet, it might take her a while to catch on to all the steps. Please bear with her in the meantime, Arthur and whomever else wishes for a chance to dance with the storybook blonde.
...Also, someone try and keep her from pulling every person in arms reach into a dancing circle. Because given her excitement levels, that's really all she wants to do.]
no subject
Even a date as friends is something he hasn't done in quite some time, and since this is a first in so many ways for Rapunzel he's determined to keep an eye on her over the course of the night.
Of course he's going to ask her to dance, and he won't even comment when she steps on his feet - she's so light, and barefoot after all, that he barely feels it. All he does is gently correct her each time, occasionally murmuring the steps aloud for her to follow.]

It looked like it would be a lot of fun. Though, unless Koizumi asked her to dance, or anyone else, she would be off to the side and be a wall flower.]

She tucked back her bangs a little, wondering why she didn't put it up like the rest of her hair. Rogue was the type to keep things simple and thought a simple bun would do the trick.
She stayed by the tables, counting down until she could go home.]

Deciding to go all or nothing, she had her curled and make-up done. between work and taking care of London she managed to find a cute dress with black stockings and matching shoes. The final touch on her was the light red lip gloss she wore, occasionally retouching it when she had.
Once she walked into the ballroom she started to look around to see if she could spot a familiar face.]
Sirius Black
Most of the night he's seen somewhere near Alisha, either right by her side, dancing with her, bringing her drinks or just watching her from a bit further away. Rudy's warning is still rather vibrant in his memory.
But of course he also finds the time to talk to friends and lead some of the other ladies on the dance floor. Or gentlemen, really, he doesn't care much about conventions.]

You ought to at least pretend you're having fun.
[ she knew she was. for the first time in ages, irene actually felt like herself - she'd splurged on a dress that was eerily similar to one she'd owned in london, done her hair and her makeup. she could almost pretend that she was herself again, rather than the shadow that had taken over once she 'died' and sherlock had .. had truly died. ]

But the highlight of the week, he reminded himself, turning back to look at the door - the highlight was definitely Cass's dress.]
no subject
Possibly not as much as he does, but she's not going to hold that against him. She steps through the door after him and keeps close, partly because she doesn't like these kinds of things but also just because she can, just because Tim likes it when she's close now.]

no, instead she's sulking up against a wall, drink in hand and eyeing whoever might pass by. if you're a kid and you shouldn't be drinking, you might receive a glare though she'll make no move to stop you. if you're an adult, she'll try her best to look pleasantly disinterested with the whole affair.
homecoming, indeed. ]
no subject
for one, it was an excuse to dress up like she hadn't bothered to since coming to the island. oh, she might do a cursory bit of makeup, but she'd not bothered to put up her hair or anything that took much longer than ten minutes since arriving. or before then, if she was being honest with herself. what was the point?
but now, there was a point. as she lingered by the table, picking at some of the foods, she scanned the area for someone to dance with - or perhaps just someone to tease. given that sherlock and shinichi ought to be in attendance, there ought to be someone about to bother.
perhaps she could even steal a dance from one or the other. ]
no subject
while John is off doing whatever it is small-minded folk do at dances, Sherlock winds his way irritably to one of the walls as far from any of the speakers as he can manage. standing by the food will at least provide him with a chance to exercise his island-specific observations by deducing other attendees. ]
