The Mother of All Logs
WHO: Anyone and Everyone
WHAT: All the kissin's
WHEN: Dec 16 - 18
WHERE: Wherever you want!
WARNINGS: Affection, freak-outs, possible R ratings
Ok! Here is the post for collecting all your kissing logs! If you want to do individual Network posts and then lead in to kissing that way, that's fine, but if you're looking to do a straight up log, this is the place to do it. That way we don't flood the community with all the log posts.
Instructions:
1. Post your character's name. One reply per character so that they're all neatly organized.
2. When you tag to a character's thread, put your participating character's name in the subject line.
3. ???
3a. Feel free to edit the post tags to include your character name for easier activity reporting
4. PROFIT!

This one's about a very smart man with an impairment who writes about the wonders of the world. Midgardians would call it "science." He calls it "time" and "space," and explains by what means that they are one in the same, and how the collide. It's rather boring.
[he seems unperturbed by many of her acrobatics, and doesn't seem at all bothered by the invasion of his personal space.]
This— [he runs a finger along the world.] —means "time."

[he keeps the book open, just in case she needs to see it again.]

[though his eyes are on her as she goes through the book. it's funny, they're awful close, aren't they? probably too close to notice the overhang of a certain cursed weed that's above them.]
You've recognized the pattern. They are.

[It's an off-handed comment, not meant to rile or upset - just a statement of fact. The main three are difficult to find. She's actually leaning on his shoulder by this point.]
The smaller runes are in a lot of the larger ones. Like that one! [She points to an "e".] It's all over. Is it an element?
[He's warm, and comfortable, and there's a fluttery feeling like bird wings growing under her heart. He brings her challenges, and riddles, and companionship... and soda! Why shouldn't she be happy to have him here again?]
no subject
It's a vowel. There are a few of those, every collection of runes has at least one.
[but somehow his voice has dropped. just a little.]
no subject
A vowel. [She drew out the strange word a little and laughed at way it felt. Glancing over at him, she scrunched her nose up a little, amused.] What does it mean?
no subject
Oh, many things. It's a sound that forms the peak of a syllable. In this case things are complicated, and this vowel makes no sound at all. Instead it lends its skill to the "i" in "time"—without it the word becomes "tim." Ah, and then without the "i" it becomes "tm." Suddenly without the aid of the vowels, it becomes nothing at all, not even symbolic.
no subject
There are so many combinations. Why isn't there just one rune for one thing? One only for me... [She presses her hand against her chest, and turns to face him a little better, reaching out to tap his collarbone with a fingertip.] One just for... you.
[They're so close, and yet... She wants to be closer. She won't go quite so far as to climb into his lap - certainly not without permission. But she couldn't bring herself to look away. It occurs to her that all her friends are adults. He is the closest thing she has to someone her own age. A strange sense of hopeful apprehension is wrapped around her heart, hot and tight, trembling, but not unpleasant.]
no subject
shut up, you idiot.]
...that is simply for you.
Perhaps ... one for the two of us together?
[and when he lets his mind go, he's leaning in only a few centimeters. slowly, very carefully.]
no subject
The... two of us together...?
[The words are so soft as to be almost inaudible and there are mere inches between them now. Her mind seemed mired in those four little words. She couldn't think. Couldn't pull out the ramifications. Couldn't... figure out why they stirred the coals in her stomach and sent the heat up to tinge her cheeks with a pale pink stain. Couldn't--
Her hand hung arrested in the air between them, half reaching, half retreating, poised as she was just on the edge of something she didn't understand. Simply longed for.]
no subject
[he asks, gently, letting the words fall between them for only a moment until their lips brushed. and he hung there, lightly, without moving forward because he wasn't sure what to do with gods and humans, and somewhere in the back of his mind he realized that this must be even a more delicate affair for spirits.]

and he draws back quietly, and for a moment he's quiet. and then he's unsure whether or not he should thank her or apologize.]

Uh ...
[well, that didn't come out as elegant as he first anticipated.]

Until he had arrived, no one but Captain and England had known much of anything about the old ways in which she had been brought up. And they were adults. They thought differently simply because of that, let alone that they weren't really of her people. England was closer, but it still wasn't the same. Loki wasn't the same either, but for him the memories were freshest, and he hadn't yet become as serious-minded as her older friends. He laughed more, he understood her better, he had barely arrived, it seemed, and he had already done so much for her. He was the closest thing she had to having someone of her own age and knowledge, and she didn't want to mess that up.
Granted, she hadn't been ready to push their relationship to this level yet... But if she ran away, would she hurt him? What if he got angry and actively set out to return the injury? What if he didn't ever want to see her again?
No. She couldn't let that happen. She would stay. At least for the moment.
A small, hesitant smile made itself known, and she, too, strove to find some reasonable way to say something meaningful.]
You look like you've been hit with an ax.
[Yes. Very meaningful.]

I'm missing the splitting pain, m'lady.
[there's a bit of tension hanging in the air, like he wasn't quite sure what came over him in that moment, but he doesn't regret it. no, the whole thing was rather nice. in fact he's still a little buzzed from the aftermath of it. but the world goes on, doesn't it?]
no subject
You're much prettier without a blade in your skull.
[She kept wanting to touch him - or at least be close to him - and this wasn't quite enough. Edging a little closer puts her just shy of physical contact. Neither of them were quite comfortable yet, and she isn't sure if touching would tip something and cause one of them to flee. But she can't resist reaching out and tapping the golden circlet he wears.]
This is much nicer.
no subject
It keeps my head safe from the axes, m'lady. The face was merely for practice in case my ax-expression was needed for future generations.
no subject
If it is, the future looks black for everyone! Don't set your heart on that fate just yet.
[So much for the silver tongues of her folk. That was much grimmer and serious than she meant it to be. Wait, maybe she can salvage that.]
I would say that it normally serves a different purpose than shielding your head. I might say that it means noble blood runs in you.
no subject
he holds his hand to his chest and manages to make a very convincing fake surprised face.]
I'm appalled and hurt you think of me as such. Much of my time and energy is put into thought of future generations. Noble blood of the gods is quite different, you see, but it matters little.
no subject
The blood of gods runs in you? Heroes are often born of the gods, in my people. They have great destinies.
no subject
My great destiny would depend on who's mouth was telling the story, m'lady.
