Ok! Here is the post for collecting all your kissing logs! If you want to do individual Network posts and then lead in to kissing that way, that's fine, but if you're looking to do a straight up log, this is the place to do it. That way we don't flood the community with all the log posts.

Not the way you're thinking of, no. Young trolls grow up on Alternia, and all the shops and stores that you can visit yourself are with the adults, way out on ships and in colonies. We get allowances, according to your place on the hemospectrum, and then you can use them with some of the drones left behind to assist, to get schoolfeed modules and what you can't find or make yourself. I never had enough to buy things I didn't desperately need, like hats, so I had to wait until I found one for myself in one of the ruins I was excavating.

[Now that she thinks about it, did she ever really tell him she's pretty much lowest of the low, where trolls are concerned? She doesn't think she has.]

[yes, and she could also float—that had definitely crossed his mind. but hand-holding was quite nice, even if he wouldn't say it out-right.

well that sounds completely different from anything that he's ever heard before. there were words in there that he could guess, but couldn't place. being Loki also came with being able to make things out enough to get a good idea of what was going on and then, if called for, bullshit appropriately. (this wasn't a bullshitting time, but it came with the territory.)]

I take it that whoever gifting you with this endowment found you lower on this Spectrum of Hemo.

It's a caste system based on blood color, Loki. Did you not notice? There's one of us left for each possible tier, and rust is the lowest you can be and still have a place somewhere. [Said calmly, with nothing but a sort of indifferent acceptance; she's had her whole life to reconcile with this, even though she knows its a bunch of bullshit.]

[She looks confused for a moment, like she doesn't understand- but then she remembers oh yes, time colors are red and red, it's easy to see how he'd draw that conclusion.]

No, my Maid of Time clothes are incidentally red. It doesn't always match up like that. Vriska- I don't know if you've met Vriska, types in blue, rather dramatic, all her words are full of eights- her clothes would be orange, but she's a blueblood. If Dave ever shows you his clothes, the ones like the ones I'm wearing, they'll be the same color because he's the Knight of Time, and he's human. The colors for our aspect just happen to be shades of red.

[Aradia concentrates, like flipping a mental switch, and the clothes and the hood and the wings go away, replaced by her regular winter clothing. Which are all...still mostly red. And black, because black is safe.]

But that is why I normally wear dark red. It would likely be considered, mmm, presumptuous? To prominently wear a color that wasn't mine to claim.

[he watches with a hint of curiosity, though there's no shock or noticeable change in expression when she changes. there's not any judgement, he just seems to want to understand. it was a good step to take, after all.]

So depending on the blood color you were born with, you can lay claim over colors? Then those with green blood would feel slighted if we switched.

It's less like a claim, more like a requirement? You are expected to stay within your boundaries, which includes not trying to rise too far above your station, so most people stick to the color of their blood. I could wear green if I wanted, probably, but I would still have to announce myself as a rustblood somehow. If that makes sense.

[She unbuttons her coat a little bit, though it's cold to her, pulling it open just enough to show him the burgandy Ares symbol embroidered neatly on the shoulder of her cardigan.]

It gets a little more complicated than that, too. Each troll has a symbol that belongs to them, and their ancestors. Which are hard to explain- they are to us what your parents are to you, in that they are our close genetic matches, and they come before us, but so far in the past we never knew them. Anyway. So say I did wear green! I would probably just find a way to stitch my symbol into my clothes, in my blood color, where people could see, so they would know I wasn't trying to pass myself off as higher up the spectrum than I am. People used to get in real trouble for impersonating other hemochromes. It was considered treasonous. Does all that make sense?

[actually, it did. though the whole thing was rather disturbing. he was familiar with caste systems, though he came from ones that were both established very differently. in Paris it was his economic status, and in Asgardia ... well, that was different all together. he came from a place of many very different realms, all the creatures in each with their own unique, and sometimes very interesting, cultures. Asgard, in many ways, was closer to Midgard than Jotunheim was to Asgard, so he was not unfamiliar with wrapping his head around such things.]

By my time, there are five trolls living, and only twelve escaped the destruction of our universe. Maybe people will want to cling to it, but nobody has the systematic power to impose that kind of structure on us anymore. [ She grins, suddenly. ] It tends to be less effective when the oppressed can punch you in the face and not have to face execution for it.

[he lifts a finger, looking quite serious at the implications.]

Punching works effectively. I've seen it done.

[but then he grins too, looking pleased.]

And quite well in the art of change. Those who cling to it will see soon enough that it holds no more bearing. The ones that hold on to the old ways get swept away with them. Change is good. The new is good, though at times it seems to disrupt lives. We adjust and are better for it.

[She purposely did not say beat the shit out of them and make them pay, which would also be a valid response, and was quite effective the few times she employed that technique.]

But the people who have the most to lose from change are the last ones to believe it. Still, it's nothing to me if they want to continue to be assholes about it. I have much better things to do with my life than listen to that.

[And Aradia looks quite unconcerned about it all, too. Nobody will ever have the right to demand she use the back door ever again, and there's no system to force her to comply. She doesn't have to pretend to buy into it or hold her tongue or accept any sort of limitations anymore.]

They'll feel the backlash of their ignorance.

[he leans in a bit and lifts his free hand, like it's a secret, waving his hands and stretching his fingers. a single jazz hand.]

You can bask in your victory. You changed. And you can shine in all those better things that you do with yourself.

[there's a brief pause and then he looks pleased.]

If they still speak about it, well, we'll just have to cause some problems for them.

[She can't help rolling her eyes a bit at his grandiloquence, but she's still smiling anyway. Because she appreciates what he's offering, that- and maybe this shouldn't be such a big thing as it is- that he takes her side, without having to argue with him for why she's right. That the implicit suggestion is that he would help.]

I don't think you'd find Eridan Ampora much of a worthwhile target. He's too easy.

[oh, he's familiar with him, and her mention of him makes sense. Mister "you tried star" Ampora. he continues smoothly, as if that wasn't just a spark of recognition. he finally releases her hand and uses both of them to keep balance as he walks along the log.]

He's told me not talk to him. If I were any less forgiving, he would've already found himself covered in tar and feathers.

[and now he looks thoughtful.]

We could immortalize him in ink through non-flattering signage. I've heard the copy machine works quite well in making copies of non-desirable yet truthful announcements.

[She follows comfortably behind him, unconcerned about whether or not she falls. But then she can cheat. Is sort of cheating already, she's not really putting too much of her weight on the log.]

I'm sure I can think of something he'd never want known. And if not, he goes to see the guidance counselor nearly every day, so there's got to be something.

[he brightens visibly!]

Mister Coulson's office. I know how to pick the lock on his door and file cabinet.

[please don't ask how he knows how to do that. he makes a motion with his hands, rolling back on his heels, but still staying somewhat balanced.]

[It should probably seem more odd that they're bonding over potential mischief and petty vengeance on somebody else. After kissing repeatedly. Just your typical teenage date? Not-date? It doesn't even strike Aradia as weird anymore.]

Check my files while you're there? I want to see if he really did report me for bullying to someone, because I told him to get over himself.

[mischief was his thing. besides, some petty, possibly cathartic pranks were far better than something that may grow and become malicious in the future. he knew where his place, and he knew what he was, and there were some things that simply couldn't be erased with his memories—and that was his love for mischief.]

[he looks all too curious to hear the answer to that one.

[Who even knows if this is a date. She certainly doesn't. The answer won't be clear until they actually try to face or discuss the fact that they just had a rather romantic moment back there, and there's still physical evidence.]

Did I punch Eridan? Not yet. I think I am the only one who hasn't! But did I punch anyone ever? Oh yes.

Remind me not to cross you, I rather like not being punched.

[As if to prove her point she punches him lightly, really not much more than a tap to his shoulder. She could hit a little harder, maybe, fuck someone up if she took them by surprise, but she's never been a physical fighter, and in a fight of nothing but fists, she'd definitely lose.]

Yes, I remember. That other thing that you can do with your mind.

[he rubs his shoulder, even though it didn't really hurt. it was light and his skin was pretty thick being an Asgardian, but the thought about being punched by anyone wasn't too pleasant. he had been punched a lot. people weren't kind in Asgardia during the holidays.]

Though the movie part was quite nice.

[Oh yeah. That time she pinned him down and sat on him. She has the grace to look slightly abashed and embarrassed, her face just slightly dusky red.]
