The Mother of All Logs

WHO: Anyone and Everyone
WHAT: All the kissin's
WHEN: Dec 16 - 18
WHERE: Wherever you want!
WARNINGS: Affection, freak-outs, possible R ratings

Ok! Here is the post for collecting all your kissing logs! If you want to do individual Network posts and then lead in to kissing that way, that's fine, but if you're looking to do a straight up log, this is the place to do it. That way we don't flood the community with all the log posts.

Instructions:

1. Post your character's name. One reply per character so that they're all neatly organized.
2. When you tag to a character's thread, put your participating character's name in the subject line.
3. ???
3a. Feel free to edit the post tags to include your character name for easier activity reporting
4. PROFIT!

"Sheska!" Tim was surprised, and immediately wary. He didn't see her in person often. She was a source, an ally, someone he'd used since Pirate Week in a way that made him feel more than a little guilty and nervous. He ought to bring her in, tell her what it was that she was doing, but he couldn't be sure of her nerve and the way things were was just too convenient.

"Come in," he said, managing the rote response by sheer spinal reflex.

"Thank you..." Sheska stepped in, catching herself before she reflexively toed off her shoes next to the door. "I, ah, I thought I'd bring your Christmas gifts over before anything else happens - giant bugs, or fires, or plague or something." She held out the boxes as evidence.

Her stomach was suddenly full of butterflies. They hadn't done much speaking in person, and she'd forgotten that he was quite so... striking. Not to mention that she still wasn't certain of her gifts for him. All she had to go on were those fleeting memories of what might have been on the ship and the emails and text messages. Still, Mr. Stark had assured her that this was over the top of the line. Well. They'd see, wouldn't they?

"I hope I didn't disturb you. I know a lot of people are hiding right now." Well that was horrific.

"I've got better ways of avoiding people," Tim said, trying to be reassuring. "If I was hiding, you wouldn't see me right now. Trust me."

He was conscious of Sheska's nervousness, but she seemed like a generally anxious person, and he didn't attribute it to anything in particular.

She could definitely believe it. He had been quiet and unobtrusively helpful back then, too. "Some people simply didn't answer their doors, so I assumed that they'd rather not be seen. Recuperating after the last few days, I expect." Maybe that would have been a smarter route, thinking about it.

"I think I'm as recuperated as I'm going to get," he responded after a moment. "So. What brings you here?"

She blinked, a little surprised, and lifted the boxes in a sort of silent question. "I just wanted to bring your Christmas gifts. I mean, you certainly don't need to open them now, or anything, but I thought it would be better than just leaving them outside your door. ...Is everything all right?"

"Everything's fine. It's just been... a crazy week."

Or month. Or three months. Or two years. Or seven years...

A sympathetic grimace twists her lips briefly. "A little too crazy for my taste. When we're young, we wish for adventure, but I don't think we knew what it would really be like. Amnesia always seemed a little romantic, in the stories. A chance for a fresh start, and people willing to help them out... They don't really discuss how frightening and disorienting it is." She shakes her head, considering the disconnect. "This whole island seems like something out of a book, sometimes. But I suppose if we survive whatever happens, we'll be able to survive practically anything!"

This thought seems to cheer her up, and she looks around for the best place to set down the packages. "Where would you like these?"

"The table by the window?" He says it absently, and without looking over to see the narrow green tendrils that have force their way through the seam at the top of that window and into the apartment.

"Sure!" Far enough back that they were out of the way; microscope in the back, with the book, hard drive and playful fingerprinting kit stacked in front - hopefully at least a little aesthetically pleasing... there! She kind of wished she could be there when he opened them (at least to explain the kit, if nothing else!) but that would have to do. Oh, that reminded her...

"I haven't been able to get very far on that research you asked about," she said apologetically, "but I'm hoping to have preliminary results for you by the end of the week."
detectivewonder: (this is my sincere face)

[personal profile] detectivewonder 2013-03-13 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Anyone who sponsors research knows not to try and rush the results," Tim said, stepping closer, raising a hand to forestall any further excuses. "Take all the time you need."

He swallowed. Was the temperature going up in here?

"Are you sure? If this is for a project..." Sheska made a little open-palmed gesture, feeling it unnecessary to finish the thought. "But if there's anything along the same lines that I can find for you, while I'm at it, I certainly wouldn't mind! There are some questions about the island's history that I've written down to go back and satisfy my own curiosity about later, if I can find anything on it. Some of these articles are remarkably close-lipped."

She was starting to babble again, and as soon as she realized it, she shut down with a little laugh. R-really, there was no reason to feel jittery. No reason! Yet somehow that didn't stop a blush from creeping across her cheeks.

Tim smiled, detective skills kicking in belatedly. There was nothing suspicious about her being nervous -- she liked him. Elevated pulse, rapid-eye movements, flushed cheeks, but she wasn't looking away the way people with something to hide did -- that made sense. It wasn't a surprise, exactly. In fact... hadn't he already guessed?

He realized he was still smiling, that the symptoms he diagnosed held true for himself as well, and just as he closed the last bit of distance between them, his eyes widened in realization.

"Mistletoe," he said, and kissed her.
