Right, so barista was not the best choice. It was new for the first fifteen minutes but there's not a whole lot of variability to it - it's pretty dull, actually- and apparently, improving their coffee-making machine is out of the question unless you are a "certified technician", although I honestly don't think there is anyone MORE certified than I am. Then there was that issue with the apron, which was just stupid.

Well, that was one job, let's see if the next one's better!

Ignoring the whole class consent form weirdness for the moment... has everyone else noticed how little sense this island makes?  And I don't mean how we all got here, what we are, volcanoes and magic snow and things like that.  Simple stuff.  I'm the night stockboy at Juanes, and there are always new things to stock -- where are they being delivered from?  Does somewhere on the island manufacture them?  In which case, do we have a refinery for plastic, and an offshore oil well?  Where are the materials coming from?  Where is all our food coming from?

And on an island where nobody leaves and nobody visits, why do we have a hotel?

Am I correct in remembering that there are cooking classes available right now? I don't particularly need the instruction, but I should like to get new recipes. I can always spice them up if they are too bland after all. It could be fun to go as a group with friends, too.

...What does my work schedule have to do with checking in to a hotel?

Nathan,

I'm going out for a walk. Please don't lock the door again.

Thank you.

This was well on its way to being the first Dropless January I've spent sober in a hundred years, but that volcano went and had its own plans.

What's with this place, anyway? For January, it's unbearable! Normally I'd be shoveling myself out a second story window, but after New Year's I haven't seen another snowflake. It's very unsettling, is what it is.

I don't have anything in particular to say; everyone else was just updating and I didn't want to be left out.

I do not know why I am not home yet. This place is a nuisance.

And I do not know why people are complaining about the stipends. It is decent money. Hmph.
