What: A Cajun cookout.
Who: Gambit, Rogue, Jubilee, X-23, and anyone who smells Cajun food and comes to check it out?
Where: The roof of the East apartment building.
When: Shortly before sunset on Thursday the 18th.

Earlier in the day, Remy had spent a great deal of time moving outdoor cooking equipment to the roof and getting it plugged in.

Some of it even belonged to him.

Cajun hush puppies, potato salad, seafood gumbo, chicken fricassee, dirty rice, scallop etouffee, stuffed jalapenos, and a wide arrangement of grilled meats wrapped in pepper bacon were arranged in a half-circle around him, kept in warming dishes or heated occasionally by the brush of a finger. This was going to be a perfect meal. A nice relaxing get-together. He'd make sure of it.

Does anyone know where to get sugarbombs?

[ there's a vision of the streets before it gets turned upside down to face Jubilee. She makes a face into it before she turns it right side up and then starts to talk ]

So, like, uh. I think I'm stuck in a horror movie that I can't get out of or someone thought it'd be a good idea to play a trick on the Jubesters. Can anyone give me the skinny on this place or am I just alone and out of my depth here?

Just one question before I go (sorry for borrowing your phone, cher. I'll give it back, I promise you that).

That building, the one with the brand-new smoking hole in the side of it.

Is that really a hospital? Because if so, maybe I owe somebody an apology.

Then again, if half of what they say is true... maybe I don't.

So it looks like Steve's been 'released' too, huh? Punk didn't even say goodbye.

[ If you need him, he's sitting in his apartment and looking sadly at Steve's uniforn and shield. ]

I wonder why they call it 'dragon fruit'. It does not look like any dragons I have met.

does anyone know what you should feed a baby dinosaur?
or how much you should feed it?
a carnivorous one i should clarify
he seems to be pretty good at getting around so im wondering if i should just take him out and teach him to hunt right off the bat or if i should start him off slow with raw steak from the icebox
i think he could definitely manage a steak but he could also probably manage to take down at least a hopbeast or a mewbeast
he made really short work of one of my pillows
tavros you should know!
is one day old an appropriate age to start stalking lessons?

also dave if you are going to come over you should know hes been trying to rush out every time a door gets open to explore
so be prepared for that
and if you take off your shoes put them up high where they cant get chewed
he doesnt know how to climb
yet

What is lacrosse? I want to try it.

[ It's quiet for a very long time. And when she speaks, she's distant, upset.

Maybe if she had gone, she could have done something. ]
I am sorry.

[It's worth noting that the stranger who appears on the screen doesn't seem to actually be holding the device. Their lips are pressed into a grim line and there's a definite look of irritation on her face. She has an itch on her chin that rather than scratch, she tries to rub against her collarbone before letting out a huff of frustration.]

You know what I don't really give a crap about this fictional whatever okay I just...

[She flashes a scowl at somebody off screen then refocuses.]

Look. If I promise not to break anything else you think somebody could ask the people here to take these damn straps off of me?!

So, I'm short a roommate at my place. Anyone want a party?

01 October 2012 @ 11:42 pm
WHO: Aradia Megido and Laura Kinney
WHAT: new roommates
WHEN: The date roommates got changed around so Sept 26?
WHERE: East 102
OTHER: It's probably a bad idea to ask Aradia to explain anything normal to anyone...

Aradia had noticed that the adults in the city seemed to have a problem settling down permanently. She had already been through one adult human female pseudo-guardian, who had been nice in a sort of stern way. There hadn't been much to say to her, and now she was gone and being handed off to another person.

Truthfully she didn't really think she needed a guardian. She was doing just fine without a lusus and always had been, even if technically most of that time she had been too dead or too robotic to hurt or go hungry anyway. But it didn't seem like it was worth the effort to fight about it if they weren't going to be actively...something. Getting in the way of her explorations or actually trying to be her lusus. She had a vague impression that maybe human adults were like that, based on what she knew of their humans and their various adult hangers-on, sort of protective and smothering like a lusus, but a lot more overbearing for their ability to talk and actually give orders or make demands that weren't articulated in growls and unsubtle physical prodding back into one's room.

But it was kind of unfair to assume the new one would be like that! Maybe she wouldn't care. Maybe she would be cool! Maybe she would just be boring. Human adults seemed kind of strange either way. Aradia though she could at least give her a chance before deciding whether or not to ask Sollux or Equius if she could camp out on their floor. So she showed up outside the door of East 102 with a suitcase full of books and collected things, sitting on it while she waited to get inside to see what it was all about.

During recent events, people on this island now remember experiences held by physically identical beings around a physically identical island.  While these entities were polysemic -- that is, they shared the same names as the individuals now possessing those memories --  were these people themselves the ones who experienced life as pirates?  Or were those experiences passed to them by distinct iterations of the same genetic pattern exposed to different circumstances?

If the construction of self is a matter of the accumulation of thought and sense memories which form a personality,  would an individual with an entirely distinct set of memories be considered the same person, even if both sets of experience were imprinted on the same brain tissue within a singular body?

Nico, Karolina, Moly. I found a couple empty rooms, all you guys have to do is pick the view.

Equius, I have to take my half of the towels.

Nathan, sorry I haven't been around much. Can everybody do dinner sometime soon?

I do not understand the purpose of the boat.

03 June 2011 @ 09:29 am
So we're having a party at my place tonight. I don't know how to say "adults only" without it sounding gross, but you get the idea. Equius, you don't mind spending time again with your friend, right? Either way, I won't let anybody into your room. Or you could go to Karkat's.

Anybody who's coming, bring food. Nathan's idea of snacks are actually pretty disgusting.

Cave training is usually reserved for more advanced students. I am surprised everyone survived.
